Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse featured plenty of surprises for fans, but among the biggest was Donald Glover's cameo as a live-action Prowler.
The actor first played Aaron Davis in Spider-Man: Homecoming; unfortunately, there wasn't room for him to reprise the role in either Far From Home or No Way Home, and most of us had assumed that would be the last we saw of him as that character in the MCU.
Whether this cameo is meant to set the stage for that is hard to say, though it's worth bearing in mind the actor previously worked with producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller on Solo: A Star Wars Story where he stole the show as Lando Calrissian.
Now, the latter has shared new photos of the actor (via Toonado.com) shooting his unexpected role in the Sony Pictures sequel.
Clearly heavily inspired by the costume seen in 2018's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, this is a terrific design and one we'd definitely like to see take centre stage in Marvel Studios' Spider-Man 4. Rumours persist that a live-action Miles Morales will soon join the MCU and, if so, The Prowler can't be far behind.
A lot of work clearly went into designing this costume (for what was essentially a blink-and-you'd-miss-it cameo), while the photos below strongly suggest some clever camera trickery was used to bring Glover's Prowler into the animated Spider-Verse.
Many fans went into this movie hoping to see Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire show up as their respective Spider-Man Variants, but if it is going to happen, it will be in next March's Beyond the Spider-Verse.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is now playing in theaters.
