SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME Star Tom Holland Reveals His Favorite Marvel Movie (And It Isn't Set In The MCU)

Tom Holland has starred in some of the greatest Marvel Studios movies of all time, but the actor's favourite superhero blockbuster isn't set in the MCU. Find out which he considers the best ever right here...

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was released in 2018 to widespread critical acclaim, but prior to that, fans had seriously tempered their expectations.

After all, a Spider-Man movie without Marvel Studios' involvement seemed like a guaranteed disaster on Sony Pictures' part. Instead, we got an eye-popping adventure widely considered one of the greatest superhero movies ever made; it's also frequently ranked as the best Spider-Man movie.

Someone who agrees with that latter point is the MCU's web-slinger, Tom Holland.

The actor, who has played Peter Parker in Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and his own Spider-Man trilogy, revealed in a recent interview (via Toonado.com) that he too considers Into the Spider-Verse the web-slinger's best big screen outing.

"I think the first ‘Spider-Verse’ movie is the best Spider-Man movie that’s ever been made," Holland says in the video below. "I’m so proud of everyone involved. [Producer] Amy Pascal is like my mom. I was supposed to go with her [to the premiere] as her date, I couldn’t go because I’m here working."

"But I’m incredibly proud of them, I’m excited for the second one," he continues. "I’m sure it will live up to every expectation, and I can’t wait to see it."

It's unclear whether Holland will ever share the screen with this animated Miles Morales, but he has said on numerous occasions he'd like to eventually pass the mantle to an actor playing that version of Spider-Man. Chances are we'll see that happen in his next MCU trilogy.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is now playing in theaters.

I wonder if Tom Holland’s Spider-Man movies will tackle Ben Reilly.

@JonAwesome - if they weren’t doing the multiverse / variants stuff rn probably but adding in clones would be too much at this point

I honestly don’t get what I’m missing with that Spiderverse movie. I’m not hugely into animated movies but I love Spiderman. I just didn’t get all the massive fuss over the movie. It was a Spidey cartoon with a slightly unique visual style. Nic Cage as Noir was kinda funny. Eh.

@connorblaze - I wouldn’t simplify it to that degree, but I agree mostly. It was a good movie, but goat talk? I didn’t think so

Sony's best are Spider-man 2 and both Spiderverse movies. When part 3 comes out they'll have the best comic book movie trilogy.

Actor promotes newest movie released by Sony. I’m going to laugh at how literal people will take marketing. Seems like he might be contractually required to promote any Spider-Man/ Sony related film. I myself think Toby’s Spider-Man 2 is still the best Spider-Man film.

Mild spoilers:

I'm wondering if the mcu prowler cameo is gonna affect anything in the mcu proper. He's already in the suit as per across the spiderverse. And let's face it, Aaron Davis is only gonna impact the Spiderman side of the mcu (and those are still Sony movies).

But on the other hand, feige might want to tell his own version of the prowler being introduced, or even just other ideas for the character.

He's absolutely right and what a sweet Peter Parker like response. The Spiderverse movies are the best things to have happened to Spider-Man. Not only did it elevate Miles, Gwen, Hobie, Miguel, Pavitr etc. to cultural icon like status but also gave the new generation their own favourite Spider-men. With Miles i get to relive my favourite teenage Peter Parker stories through another likeable lead, and a younger generation gets a new Spider-Man. Can't emphasize enough what these movies have done for legacy characters and the hope to have more original characters find a foothold in the zeitgeist this way. Love that Peter B Parker gets to age and have a life, sit back and watch the legacy he's inspired take on a life of its own.

@SirDuckAlot - That's not what consensus says. Or box office performances. MCU Spidey made waaay more money. Every live action Spidey film Sony has made since Spider-Man 3 has been pretty bad.

It's either Spider-Man 2 or Into the Spider-Verse for me. Holland's (and even Garfield's movies are fun), but they just don't reach that level of Spider-Manness Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Verse (and the 2018 videogame) reach imo

This is just part of the studio push to get black Spider-Man into the MCU. It is inevitable.
