Whether you are excited for it or not, Sony Pictures will be releasing the coming Kraven The Hunter standalone film in a few short months, which will serve as their next installment in their own Marvel Sonyverse, alongside Venom, Morbius, and many other character's who are set to be receiving standalone projects as well (check out this post from IGN for the full list and dates.)
In both versions of the first Kraven The Hunter trailer, there was no hint or mention alluding to the possible involvement of Spider-Man being in the film (albeit no version of Spider-Man has even been confirmed as Kraven The Hunter's enemy), but following the new plot synopsis Sony had just released about the film's story, it leaves a lot of curiousity and uncertainty about if they are keeping his potential appearance in the film under tight lock and key:
“Kraven the Hunter is the visceral story about how and why one of Marvel’s most iconic villains came to be. Set before his notorious vendetta with Spider-Man, Aaron Taylor-Johnson stars as the titular character in the R-rated film.” - Kraven The Hunter Film Synopsis
The authenticity of these events are truthfully unknown, for Sony does not have the best luck executing their easter eggs and teasers in their films in recent releases. Every fan believed Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man was set to appear in the Morbius film Sony released last year, after a mural was seen of the character in an alleyway spotted in the film's trailer.
Even though that artwork was stripped directly from the Spider-Man PS4 videogame, many eyebrows were still raised nonetheless, as we knew Sony's intentions of confirming that a possible Spider-Man is residing in this universe.
Kraven The Hunter star Aaron Taylor-Johnson hasn't been holding back on teasing the confronatation between these two characters in a potential crossover film either, after he had some choice words to say to the wall-crawler:
It is possible that while this altercation is an anticipated one, Sony will deliver on that front and finally show these two fight face-to-face, but given their recent history with Spider-Man teases in their films, and the current multiversal situation they have themselves in after Spider-Man: No Way Home, Venom, and Morbius, there will be a lot of explanation needed on their end.
