Spider-Man: No Way Home is going to use a lot of the wall-crawler's classic comic book villains, leaving fans to wonder who Peter Parker can face next. He's already beaten Mysterio and The Vulture, and burning through Doctor Octopus, the Green Goblin, Electro, Sandman, and The Lizard in one movie doesn't leave Marvel Studios with that many options moving forward.
Venom, Morbius, and Kraven the Hunter all have their own solo franchises, so who does Tom Holland think could be a fitting next foe for his Spider-Man?
"I think there are some interesting villains," the actor tells Fandom. "I think Madame Web could be something that is really interesting and we could do it in our own way. I’d really like to come up against Wilson Fisk." The latter is expected to return to the MCU courtesy of Vincent D'Onofrio in Hawkeye, so a clash with Spider-Man down the line might not be off the table.
"I also would like to maybe see what happens if my Spider-Man becomes a villain," Holland added, possibly referring to Peter donning the MCU's take on the Venom symbiote or Superior Spider-Man. "I think there are some interesting things where you could make a film about an anti-hero, or things like that."
As for whether the actor has pitched any of these ideas to Sony and Marvel Studios, he noted: "There is one idea that I have, that I have pitched to the studio - but by telling you that idea I’d be ruining this movie so I’m going to have to keep that one for myself."
It's undeniably exciting to think about what the future could hold in store for Spider-Man beyond this next solo outing, and it feels a lot like the next trilogy will be totally different to the one that's about to wrap up. Those movies could involve Peter going off to college or something completely unexpected.
