SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME Alternate Dialogue Leaves The Door Open For Tobey Maguire & Andrew Garfield Return

New behind-the-scenes footage from Spider-Man: No Way Home has unearthed some dialogue that didn't feature in the theatrical cut of the movie, and it may hint at a Spidey reunion down the line...

Towards the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Tom Holland's Peter Parker bids a touching farewell to Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's Spidey Variants after they save the day and prepare to return to their own realities.

The scene implies that these "brothers" could meet again down the line, but some alternate dialogue unearthed in new behind-the-scenes footage from the movie's digital release offers a slightly stronger hint at an eventual reunion.

In the theatrical cut, Peter 1 says, "I guess I'll see you." But his original line was a more definitive "I'll see you later," to which Garfield's Amazing Spider-Man responded, "You know where to find us."

This is far from confirmation that Maguire and Garfield will reprise their respective roles, of course, but the excised dialogue does feel like a more substantial indication that they will return. We're not sure why the scene was altered, but perhaps director Jon Watts and co. simply felt this moment should be a bit more ambiguous.

Whatever the case may be, we're sure No Way Home wasn't the last we'll see of these guys!

Spider-Man: No Way Home is now available on Digital, and is set to arrive on physical platforms on April 12. Have you re-watched the movie yet?

@OuzoPowerMan - True! Maybe that's why they changed it.

It was a great moment, but let's not ruin it with trying to make lightening strike twice.

I'd much prefer seperate Spider-Man movies with them leading their own thing, or even that Sinister 6 movie we were suppose to get with Garfield's Spider-Man fighting them and then maybe a Spider-Girl one with Tobey's Spider-Man/Dad

It was probably removed because they realised it sounded like they were hinting at another return and didn't want people to think they were teasing future appearances. Not that many people these days seem to understand that deleted scenes are not actually part of the movie 😅

I really do hope they reunite again though, and I'd love to see more of where both the older Peters are in their lives now after their own films and the events of NWH, but I'm not gonna get my hopes up and take it as gospel that they'll be back.

Watching NWH again I realized how freaking special this movie was.

They really broke new ground and opened a “Hollywood” act of putting different people who played the same character in the same movie and didn’t play it as a joke or cameo, but had it make sense as a story. And it worked.

I’ve talked to so many people who do no not post on this site or follow this stuff religiously. General folks. I haven’t heard a single negative thing about this movie from them and in fact, those I’ve talked to even understood the “multiple versions” of Spidey.

And that’s what I think is the important part of this. They made multiple actors playing the same character “work” for the general audience and accept that.

What they basically just did, is blew open the possibilities for the MCU to stick around for a LONG time (maybe even after some of us are gone) by bringing back characters like Stark, Cap, with new actors telling new stories (or different versions of old stories) in a fresh way. And they can now explain that these are the multiverse versions of these characters.

That’s what I feel the genius of this movie was; we just won’t feel the ramifications of that in the general consensus for a few years. Time will tell.

@kg8817 - This possibility was already pretty clear since Loki.

The Variant thing was the best solution they could ever find.

@Fogs - they said Loki didn’t really have anything to do with it. They were filming around the same time and had similar ideas and just made them kinda work together.

@Bdub21 - I mean the concept was clear for the audience.

Different versions of the character, interpreted by different actors/actresses, or even by the same but with changes.

Since then it became clear they can do basically whatever they want regarding recasting or recalling.

@kg8817 - Agreed, it’s an extremely special movie. Fantastically made and a high level mark in directing.

@kg8817 - “And that’s what I think is the important part of this. They made multiple actors playing the same character “work” for the general audience and accept that.”

What was very well done was ensuring there were differentiating elements to each of the three Spideys so they aren’t carbon copies of each other. I mean, they’re the same character so the tricky part was to retain what made each version unique and charming, including both the powersets and the way each moved, but at the same time find the common elements to connect them to each other. Fantastic nuances to the direction and the movie.

@Fogs - Again I’m speaking to a “general audience” mindset. I know many people who didn’t watch Loki, or thought it was boring and slow (I loved it).

Nearly everyone I know in all different age ranges saw Spider-Man in the last 14 weeks.

That’s a much more massive audience compared to the numbers Loki did and the general reception of audience who doesn’t live on Reddit, Twitter or this site.

That’s all I meant.

@kg8817 - Not arguing. Just pointing out the possibility of recasting or keeping the same actors was there too.

Jeez, people are so touchy.

@Fogs - I’m uh, not touchy pal. Nor was I arguing either. I was however pointing out that more people saw NWH than Loki, and NWH explained the concept clearer almost universally.
