SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME Very Nearly Featured Post-Credits Scenes With [SPOILER] And [SPOILER]

Despite Tom Holland's recent comments, it sounds like Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures are hard at work developing a Spider-Man 4 following the success of Spider-Man: No Way Home. The actor is bound to return for at least one more trilogy (especially once he's offered a new, big-money contract), but what about Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker Variants?

There's already an online campaign to make The Amazing Spider-Man 3 a reality, while fans have never really stopped hoping to see Spider-Man 4.

Talking to Variety, Spider-Man: No Way Home writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers confirmed they considered teasing the futures of one or both characters in a post-credits scene. "I would hope so!" McKenna said of possibly seeing them again. "I would love to see more of their journey. We even talked about, ‘Oh, we could do a [post-credits] tag with this one! We could do a tag with that one!'"

Sommers adds, "Can we do a TV show with the two of them traveling around in a van solving mysteries?'" McKenna then joked, "Like, ‘No, you weren’t supposed to say that!' We are doing Tobey and Andrew in a van going from town to town!"

There have already been rumours about both Maguire and Garfield returning for a future Multiverse adventure like Secret Wars, while some fans are convinced that it'll be the latter's Peter Parker who eventually battles Venom on screen. It's an exciting time to be a Spider-Man fan, that's for sure, and after the success of No Way Home, we're anticipating seeing much more of him in future movies.

What do you hope the future holds in store for these Spider-Man Variants?

What will the Spiderman title be now that Tobey and Garfield's characters are back in their rightful dimensions...Spiderman: Home Alone, Spiderman: Far from his Homies, or Spiderman: Home Improvement!

A post-credit scene where Mary Jane (Kirsten Dunst) tells Peter (Maguire) that she is pregnant would have been great.

Finally, we see "continue?" ...

@Repian - Pregnant? Peter and MJ probably have a kid that’s at least 10 at this point, if not much older.

@DaHyro - Peter said they lived together. He never said anything about a son / daughter.

Missed opportunity imo. Would've been great to see Tobey get back to his MJ and see how they're doing, or have Andrew get back to his world and tease some sort of future for him. They probably don't have that planned out yet though.

Having no interest in Tom Hardy's venom, the mid credit scene did nothing for me and just confused my girlfriend who had no idea who he was. Also tired of characters referring to the Avengers as "a man who flies around in a tin suit and a big green guy." It reminded me of the Netfix shows. Glad he's out of the MCU universe, hopefully Sony can keep it that way.

Yea i get questions all the time about what really happened to all the variants. They could of gave another 20 mins to show us if it was all worth it, fixing these broken villains before sending them back. I like to think they went back with their peters to times after their demises. If not will Doc Ock need to kill himself again or did his his peter already handle it in his absence?

1. I would totally watch that show.

2. Never go full Warner Bros.
(If Marvel Studios owned Spider-Man and all related characters we wouldn't even have alt. universe Venom and Morbius).

3. WTF universe is Morbius in, anyway?! Does it take place at the same time as NWH? Between Keaton and the Raimiverse Spidey poser with "Murderer" written on it, I thought we would have answers by now.

I'm so confused.

@GwenLantern - right now there are four possible universe Morbius takes place in, so I really hope the movie clears it up

@GwenLantern - It seems like there's a lot of confusing and conflicting info. It almost certainly would make the most sense for it to take place in the Venomverse since there wouldn't be any hassle from Disney/Marvel because sony owns the Venomverse.

I think the "Murderer" poster with Raimisuit means nothing. I think whoever made that just used it as a generic Spider-Man image and that it's supposed to represent Holland. Coupled with Michael Keaton, the implication would seem to be that it takes place in the MCU. Maybe the bit where he references Venom isn't actually in the movie.

The whole Andrew Garfield Spider-Man is curious to me.

Never gave his 1st film a chance. Felt like it came too soon after SM3 and looked to basically be a rinse and repeat of SM (2002).

Then TASM:2 came and just got beat up by critics and made even less money and I didn’t see that one either.

But Garfield must be good at being SM. If there is that much energy behind his return in a full movie. Considering his final film made less money with fans (actually neither of his films made more money that n the 1st SM film in 2002) and was decidedly worse with the critics.

Personally, I would prefer a Maguire/Dunst reunion film set around a Adult Peter. But who would make a good villain? Someone they haven’t used yet in any of three series? 🤔.

@IronGenesis - The general consensus with the Andrew Garfield movies were that he was a great Spider-Man but had not-so-great scripts, scripts which from what we can tell from the deleted scenes behind the first movie were due to the studio meddling with a somewhat first-time director's vision unfortunately.

Given that they kept the what happened to both of them to a minimum, I get why they choose not to pick up on them in their own timelines. But yeah, I do want a Spider-Man 4 with Mayday Parker and an Amazing Spider-Man 3 with Spider-Gwen eventually

The worlds of Maguire and Garfield's Spider-Men would be altered unless the cured villains were returned to present day instead of the pasts they were pulled from. And Otto was holding the arc reactor at one point. Did he still have it when he went back?
GwenLantern
GwenLantern - 12/31/2021, 5:40 AM
@ManDeth - Exactly! One of the many things that doesn't make sense in this movie.

Returning the villains automatically creates multiple branch-timelines. But guess what? Those original timelines also exist. The villains still die in their original timelines and there is nothing Parker can do to stop it.
