Tom Holland will reprise the role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man for the sixth time in December's Spider-Man: No Way Home, and during a recent interview, the actor revealed that the movie is being viewed not just as the culmination of a trilogy, but the "end of a franchise."
This led to speculation that Holland might be thinking about hanging up the Spidey suit for good, and it sounds like that is a very real possibility.
While chatting to Empire (via @spideyupdated) for their latest issue, the Uncharted star admitted that his future as the webbed wonder is up in the air. "I honestly don’t know if I’ll return," he tells the mag. "It’s the first time since I got cast as Spider-Man that I don’t have a contract"
We're sure the contract situation would only be a formality if Holland really wanted to stay on as Spidey, but it may also depend on the status of the Marvel Studios/Sony Pictures deal. We might well see him up on the big screen with Venom in the "SPUMC" (or whatever it's called now), but his time in the MCU could be nearing its end.
