We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead.

It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 features:
Director: Marc Webb
Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man
Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy
Jamie Foxx as Max Dillon/Electro
Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn
Sally Field as May Parker
Campbell Scott as Richard Parker
Embeth Davidtz as Mary Parker
Colm Feore as Donald Menken
Paul Giamatti as Aleksei Sytsevich/The Rhino
Chris Cooper as Norman Osborn
Marton Csokas as Dr.Kafka
B.J. Novak as Alistair Smythe
Martin Sheen as Ben Parker
Chris Zylka as Flash Thompson
Denis Leary as Captain George Stacy
Felicity Jones in an unspecified role

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits theaters May 2, 2014.

Great Q&A.

Garfield has so much love for the role, and he plays it beautifully.

For all of the box office talk that goes on at this website, did anyone do an article on the calculations Deadline Hollywood had for the most profitable films of 2013, where they added all revenue sources and subtracted all costs? "Frozen" was the most profitable ($406.6m net profit), followed by "Despicable Me 2" ($394.5m) and "Iron Man 3" ($391.8m). "Thor the Dark World" made $139.4 in profit, while "Man of Steel" made $42.7m.

It's an eye opening look at how these things actually work, considering how many people think a movie is making "pure profit" once its theatrical gross equals its production costs:

Did they ever confirm if Garfield snuffed the cancer ridden Bat-Kid during the Oscars? I heard Garfield refused to do it, and I also heard the network cut it because they ran out of time.

Any clue as to whether I should hate this actor for snuffing a kid with cancer?

yeah, I read that article @Chewtoy, always very interesting how these things actually work

@Chewtoy

I denounce that article... The Wolverine is not on it...

@Chewtoy

I think it's the biggest hurdle for X-Men DOFP because it has both old cast and new cast, the actor cost will be huge, plus with visual effects...for the movie to be TRUELY profitable, it'll have to be the top movie of the summer, otherwise it may not be enough for the studio.

It's cool that he's a bit of a comics fan himself (like Tom Hiddleston).

Although I didn't think all that much of the last film as whole, I did think Garfield played the role well. Looking forward to the new one.
