MARVEL'S SPIDER-MAN Remastered Version Will Not Be Available As A Standalone Game On The PS5

Sony has confirmed that the remastered version of Marvel's Spider-Man will not be available as a standalone game, and will only be found bundled with the "Ultimate Edition" of Spider-Man: Miles Morales!

It's been confirmed that PS5 game Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales will come bundled with a remastered version of the PS4's Marvel's Spider-Man if you purchase the "Ultimate Edition," but will you be able to buy it as a standalone game? That would be cool, but Sony has confirmed it won't be the case when the PlayStation 5 launches across the globe this coming November.

In a statement shared with IGN, Sony explains that the only way to get the remastered edition of Marvel's Spider-Man on the PS5 is to buy that aforementioned "Ultimate Edition."

"Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered is an enhanced version of Marvel’s Spider-Man, and is included as part of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition for the PlayStation 5," the statement reads. "In addition, players who purchase Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales on PlayStation 4 can upgrade at no additional cost to the PS5 version of Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales and can take advantage of a paid-upgrade to download Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered."

There are no plans currently to offer Marvel's-Spider-Man: Remastered as a standalone," it continues. "Players with a copy of Marvel’s Spider-Man for PS4 can purchase Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition to experience Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered on PS5. Marvel’s Spider-Man for PS4 also will be backwards compatible on PS5."

The remaster is being treated as a new game, and it makes sense to compel gamers to fork out for the pricey "Ultimate Edition" of Spider-Man: Miles Morales to get their hands on it come November 12.

Bad news for any racists who hate Miles Morales.

@InfinitePunches - Well.. they can still get the ps4 version and make it run on ps5 without the upgrade. It's still compatible.

Not a deal breaker. I was probably never going to play it with miles morales coming out anyway so

@MyCoolYoung - I got the ultimate edition I felt like 2 games for 70 is worth it esp since the remaster comes with all the dlc

@ShimmyShimmyYA - I agree. I meant as far as buying it as a stand-alone again while we already had an upgraded Miles didn’t make sense to me but coupling it with Miles I can definitely give up the 70 for that

@MyCoolYoung - Haven’t played the first one. So I’m essentially getting the remastered version plus Morales and all of the DLC.
Absolute win indeed

Spider-Man, Assassin's Creed, COD, Cyberpunk, Halo, all available on current gen.

Yeah, wake me when a new console is actually worth purchasing.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - Horizon Zero Dawn 2 as well. I was considering getting a PS5 for that one but at this point there's no rush, i'll get Morales and that on PS4 and wait a year or so. Maybe in the meantime they'll release a black version of the console or one with more storage. Less than 1TB is a joke considering games will take a lot of space in a few years i bet.

They'll release it as stand alone as soon as they smell the money. Greed never ends.

$20 on for a remaster is fine IMHO. It's a 2 year old game, they would've had to get people to work on it to take advantage of the new console.

I think there is very little demand for a stand-alone remaster anyway. Returning players can use their PS4 disk, and new players probably go for the package (and not either game seperately)

Why remaster a 2 year old game? I don't see the point tbh. I'll skip the PS5 for a while until their games are fully next gen, and they update that awful design.
