Unfortunately, this weekend's San Diego Comic-Con isn't quite the mega event we've grown used to. That's primarily because the vast majority of movie studios are giving the annual event a miss, but Insomniac Games was on hand yesterday to steal the show with a Spider-Man 2 showcase.
Following the release of a spectacular new story trailer (which you can check out below in case you missed it), these screenshots put the spotlight on a number of key characters and moments.
We see Peter Parker and Miles Morales swinging into action together, though the latter Spider-Man is later shown without backup in what appears to be Kraven the Hunter's mansion. In another screenshot, Norman Osborn comforts his son, Harry, as the Venom symbiote looms large behind them.
Talking of Venom, we also see Peter making good use of the alien costume as Venom himself is fully unleashed (right now, the prevailing theory is that it will be Harry in the suit rather than Eddie Brock).
Revealing where we pick up with the video game's leads when Spider-Man 2 begins, Senior Narrative Director Jon Paquette said, "Our Spider-Men are at the top of their game. But both Peter Parker and Miles Morales are struggling with their personal lives."
"Miles is trying to find time to write his college entrance essay, but he keeps procrastinating and focusing on Spider-Work instead. Meanwhile, Peter is underwater on payments for Aunt May’s house, but he can’t sell, it means too much to him. And just like Miles, Peter tries (and fails) to find balance with so many responsibilities."
"MJ wants to help Pete with the mortgage, but her job is on the line now that J. Jonah Jameson is back at the Bugle and looking to clean house. Our heroes have arrived at a confluence of crossroads, with uncertain futures, and some tough decisions ahead."
Everything we're seeing from Spider-Man 2 looks amazing and October 20 really can't get here soon enough. Check out these new screenshots (via GameFragger.com) below.
