SPIDER-MAN Star Fred Tatasciore On Why He Loves Playing Rhino And Possibly Reprising The Role (Exclusive)

Fred Tatasciore has played Rhino in multiple projects for Marvels, but when we asked him about the Spider-Man video games, he weighed in on possibly reprising the role after Spider-Man: Miles Morales...

Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms star Fred Tatasciore is a legend in the world of voice acting, and he first played Aleksei Sytsevich/Rhino in 2008's Spider-Man: Web of Shadows. He's since reprised the role on multiple occasions, including in Spider-Man and Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

The latter saw Rhino defeated by Miles and Tinkerer, though his fate was left somewhat open-ended (we're assuming he was sent back to The Raft by the time all was said and done). A third Spider-Man game is thought to be in development, of course, and we're sure this villain is desperate to enact his revenge on both versions of the wall-crawler after his recent defeats at their sticky hands.

While we had Fred on the phone, we praised his work in the games and asked if there's a possibility he could return as Rhino in the not too distant future.

"[Adopts Rhino’s voice] ‘Well, first of all, I have to tell you: thank you so much for that. I very happy!’ I don’t know. I would hope...we left him in sort of dire straits without spoiling the game for anybody, but I hope he comes back," the actor told us. "I’ve played Rhino in a bunch of different forms."

"He’s an interesting character because he can run the gamut from bad guy to maybe he could almost be a good guy because he was one when he lost his wife or he can be just really nasty. That’s where we went with the game. He’s a very, very nasty, tough guy. Funny, sure, but he’s despicable, really [Laughs] So, [adopts Rhino’s voice] ‘He’s working for the wrong team, always.’ I don’t know anything, obviously, but I would jump at the chance to hop in that suit again. I really would."

"It was a great experience working with everybody and I loved how it all turned out and was really happy with what they did," Fred concluded. "I have hope! [Adopts Rhino’s voice] ‘I would think because sometimes these characters are very hard to kill. They don’t get killed very often!’"

Rhino stepped up in a big way during Spider-Man: Miles Morales as that game's lead villain, but we're sure he could still make his impact felt in the untitled third instalment. Either way, something tells us that Fred isn't done with this character, especially after playing him for well over a decade now!

Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms is available now on 4K/Blu-ray & Digital!
