Insomniac Games surprised fans last year with the announcement that Spider-Man: Miles Morales would be a launch title on the PlayStation 5, and that title blew us all away. However, many fans wondered what this meant for the Spider-Man sequel that was first teased in 2018 with a post-credits scene hinting at plans for both the Green Goblin and Venom.
The spinoff did drop some hints, so the sequel does appear to be happening...we just don't have an official announcement! Of course, when we caught up with Peter Parker actor Yuri Lowenthal last week, we had to ask what direction he hopes to see the wall-crawler's story head in moving forward.
"I keep waiting for my phone to call!" he said when we pushed for details on the Spider-Man sequel. "They’ve had the Miles game, and with COVID, there’s no way we can get into a motion-capture on a grand scale with all the actors right now, so I don’t know. I wish I had more to tell you [Laughs]. I wish I had more to tell me!"
"I’m just happy continuing to play the character, to explore his new relationship with MJ, to explore his new relationship with Miles, and to explore a relationship of him without May behind him to support him when he needed her to," Yuri added. "It’s an evolution of a character Insomniac had already taken a big risk and important choice to evolve past where we normally start with Spidey. I’m curious to see where he goes next."
We're all curious to see where things go next for Spider-Man, especially after those teases. Will we be playing as Peter and Miles, or is the spotlight going to be placed solely on the original web-slinger? Those are questions we, and Yuri it seems, are waiting to be answered, so fingers crossed for an announcement soon (unfortunately, it's likely that COVID has delayed everything on that front).
We'll have much more from Yuri for you soon (the full interview will hit the site tomorrow) but you can find him on Twitter @YuriLowenthal, Instagram @yurilowenthal, and his Cameo (where you can get personalised messages from the actor and the characters he's played), by clicking HERE.
