For the promotion of “Never Let go” in Toronto, Andrew Garfield was approached about how he sees the character of Spider-Man. When asked about the role of Spider-Man he quickly said:
"It's every young boy's dream come true, including my own,” he says of being cast as the new web-slinger in the blockbuster franchise. "It's amazing. It was like a child's fantasy coming to life, and how often is that gonna happen?”
Garfield recalls the day that he first heard about landing the role of Spider-Man.
"They called me upstairs and sprung it on me,” he says, still looking amazed. "They had the studio and director and the producers. They were all there with glasses of champagne and smiles and tears. A full-on surprise.... So I'm still kind of in denial about it."
When asked how he envisioned Spider-Man he concluded:
"I have an image from the cartoons, the '70s cartoons and the '80s cartoons. The comics. The 'Amazings,' the 'Incredibles' the 'Ultimates.' There's so much to pay homage to and so much to draw from. It's exponential. I've been a massive fan, and it feels like a legacy that I'm just going to be another part of. A small part of.”
