I don't mind her being in the movie, although I think there are so many other fine red headed flawless actresses out there in Hollywood land that could fill the shoes. But hey, as long as Spider-Man isn't saving her AGAIN I'm cool with it.

interview with the vampire was easily her best performance. i hate mary jane in general (in the comics), but my god she makes MJ almost unbearable

I don't mind her (Cameo though), just like i don't mind TOBEY MAGUIRE!?

What makes me laugh is everyone liked 'em an could'nt say nothing wrong after SPIDEY 2, bit like X2 , then you get the THREES an everyone hates all of them lol! ; D

"Dunst is so ugly, MJ is supposed to have big boobs that i can jerk off over to the dvd and shes cant even act either..I HATE HEEEEER!"

Then go on to cast someone like Hendricks who looks like a pornstar and is about 10 years too old. Dusnt made a great MJ in the first 2 movies. Granted she came across a bit annoying in the 3rd movie but nobody was at their best in that one.

Ya rite @ ROR! No one was at their best in SPIDEY 3, though i gotta say SANDMAN stole that movie, CHURCH was great!

Hopefully SONY has woke up about SPIDEY 3 (Coz if they do it again, i doubt their get another chance), anyway, hopefully SPIDEY 4 will be a SPIDEY 2 or even 1 !! Fingers crossed.

Well... i would prefer a new cast entirely. Cause i want the characters to grow up yet the actors don't seem to age much. It's been three films and they still look like kids playing "house" instead of becoming young adults like they should. But Dunst was decent. Her best portrayal was in the first but her character got anoying quick after that. As long as they crank up the writing to genius level at minimum, i won't mind her coming back.

as long as they focus on spiderman, not mary jane and saving her ass again. but lets focus on spiderman and his growth as a super hero or something.

I liked the spiderman movies.Well I Especially liked 1 and 2, 3 was ok. I just thought the choice for MJ could have been better. But what do I know I'm not a director

@LEEE, I really have never liked Kirsten, partially because all the roles she played as a kid were extremely bratty, not entirely her fault I'm sure, but there it is. I was OK with Tobey (not in love with, but OK with) as Spiderman until Venom=Emo Spidey. Again not entirely his fault but I feel how I feel. ;)

BTW, who shat in Ozy's coffee this morning?

ROR: damn, Hendrick is my top pick for MJ - you hurt my feelings man! ;) Seriously though, you are right about her, she is a little too old for MJ (and McGuire is beginning to look a little old for Peter IMO)

OZY: why the hell are you having a meltdown, lol!?!

I actually dont like Dunst to be honest. She's not a bad actress and she isnt ugly but i just dont think she's right for MJ! However, my feelings towards her may not actually be her fault! I guess im just sick of seeing her being the damsal in distress 3 movies in a row and the whole will they/wont they stuff is getting old!!!

I still think that Jake Gyllenhall or Bret Harrison would make a better Peter Parker/Spider-Man! Im beginning to struggle to accept 40 year old McGuire as a college kid!

CC @ I can see ya point, an man, VENOM was just done soooo bad it wasn't funny, hopefully we'll all get a decent VENOM in the VENOM movie!! Its a shame about SPIDEY 3 but fingers crossed SONY has seen their mistake an will make a really good 4!

JOSH @ Yeah, the damsal in distress is really old, hopefully shes only got a cameo in SPIDEY 4 (like MARGOT KIDDER in SUPES 3 lol).

P.S. I still like TOBEY better! Though that guy was the stand in if he didn't come back.

LEE: i just wish they had MJ and Gwen in the first movie and had actually killed Gwen setting up MJ for 2 & 3 - that IMO is the biggest mistake of the Spider-Man franchise!

ComicChic: lol, yeah! i actually thought McGuire was 40!! I guess 34 isnt that bad but its still too old IMO! It would be ok if he looked younger as Gyllenhall and Harrison do but it reaches a point where its going to start looking pretty stupid! you've suprised with Dunst's age as well! 27? Damn, I would have said maybe 35! I think a new cast might be a good idea..! :)

You are damn right! She was a good MJ in the first two movies

In my opinion, I hope there is less Mary Jane in this movie because she is a great character and all, but not even every Spidey comic has Mary Jane feature front and center in it so the movie shouldnt either. Have MJ as the emotional support to Peter for when he comes home after a day of fighting for survival against Lizard and Kraven. She is the one who provides him with the emotional support that makes him keep fighting evil

AND NO MORE [frick]ING MJ HOSTAGE SITUATIONS!
Did the comics even have the MJ hostage situations that much? Even in the first appearance of Venom in the comics, he comes to find Peter and he only freaks out Mary Jane, he doesnt kidnap her. MJ hostage situations were the one thing that really annoyed me about the Spidey movies. They were the adamantium bullets/throwing the "S" of the Spidey movies. The first movie I could understand, the second movie I could just tolerate the MJ hostage situation but the third I was like WTF?!

I dont mind eitha of em in eitha of the roles. And for continuity purposes why not? Now announce the villains. I wouldnt be opposed to Sandman returning but probably not in this film. I really want a shocker or rhino cameo in the beginning!

I am not the biggest fan of Dunst through this franchise as most of us, but I don't like it when they change cast members. Like most of you said I just hope they don't over play her in this one. Let her be there, just dont let the story revolve around her. I have faith that Raimi will do this one justice, and not flood it with a million different stories. Hell Mr. Bruce is said to have a major role so I am SOLD!!!
