Composer Hans Zimmer (Dark Knight Trilogy, Man of Steel) recently spoke about scoring 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2':

“I’m sort of grappling with a completely different way of doing it right now, and literally it’s just the laboratory doors are open right now. I have an idea but I haven’t played it to anybody yet, so I don’t even know if it’s going to work yet. Because you never know, music is this weird indefensible thing, it either resonates with you or it doesn’t. I’ll either get the tone right or I won’t, but it’s serious experimentation time at the moment.”

On bringing his experience into it:

“I’ve done a lot of action, I’ve done a lot of buildings falling down basically and things exploding, so I’m sort of trying to figure out, ‘Is there a slightly different way of doing it?’ And I’m not sure yet, but I’m certainly working on it.”

Zimmer also comments on the film itself, praising it for its character development:

“You have no idea how [well] the relationships work in this one. That is what he’s masterful about; truly, truly, truly wonderful. And the movie just sort of sparkles whenever—because it could be so easily a movie driven by action, and it really is driven by charm and love and sparkling dialogue. And the chemistry between the characters is fantastic.”

James Horner scored the pervious 'Amazing Spider-Man' film.

I thought Peter and Gwen's relationship was awfully executed. Aside from their chemistry, nothing about their relationship made me believe they were a real couple. All they do is stutter, make awkward small-talk, and act cute. Their romance is built on nothing. We never find out anything about Gwen through their relationship other than she is worried about her father. Every scene the share is always focused on Peter. Which isn't a good thing considering what an unlikable dumbass jerk he is.

Well, at least they got someone good to score this movie.

Anyway, I loved the first one and I can't wait for the sequel.

should be a blinding score.

@ mexicansuperman

peter parker was a dick to his aunt & uncle,he definitely doesn't act that way towards them in the comics or the raimi trilogy.

I never understand how people can say peter was a jerk. By the way people go on about it, you'd think he let an old lady get robbed and ate some popcorn while it happened..

@marvel72 How was he a dick? Because he got pissed off one night? Didn't peter demand uncle ben to stop acting like he was his father in raimi's spider-man 1. Btw if you read the ultimate spider-man comics (which this franchise takes inspiration) you will see peter lashes out and behaves in a similar manner. if you want a good and perfect hero just stick with captain america or superman (not hating on those characters)

And to comment on the whole 'car thief' issue. As much as I love spider-man, I have to admit that he can be an asshole to his villains. But that is who he is. Heck, Tony stark can be an even bigger a-hole but it doesn't stop us from thinking how awesome of a character he is.

@MexicanSuperman- I have plenty of reasons:
-Peter lets his aunt suffer through her husband's death alone so her can find the killer to make himself feel better.
-Peter lets his girlfriend suffer through her father's death alone because he made a promise he breaks five minutes later for stupid reasons.
-Peter lets a thief get away because he couldn't buy chocolate milk.
-Peter actually takes the stolen chocolate milk.
-Peter mouths off to Captain Stacy about how Spider-Man is doing something and the police are incompetent. Captain Stacy rightfully calls out Peter for being a condescending dumbass by pointing out Spider-Man hasn't helped anyone. One reason why Captain Stacy is my favorite character in that movie.
-Peter tells his aunt to leave him alone when she worries about him.
-Peter breaks a dead man's dying wish.
-Peter dooms Gwen to her death by getting back together with her.
-Peter acts like a jerk to a cop when he stops a car jacker.
-Peter goes around beating up random people so he can find the killer. In New York City. A city with a population of 8 million people.

I should point out in that scene in SM2, Peter did not have his powers so he would have gotten his ass kicked or killed if he intervened. Besides, it's not like he doesn't want to help. The movie shows how bad things have gotten since he lost his powers and how Peter is affected by the consequences of not being Spider-Man.

Unlike TASM, SM2 actually understands that an important concept of Spider-Man is that all of Peter's choices have consequences, good or bad. And the film makes it easy for the audience to relate and sympathize with Peter because he genuinely cares and acts like a real person. Also, please point out the part in TASM where Peter says Uncle Ben was a good father figure.

@MexicanSuperman- As for blowing up on Uncle Ben, it would be unrealistic if Peter's relationship his aunt and uncle was totally perfect. While we may not be on Peter's side when he yells at Uncle Ben, we can at least see where he is coming from. Also, Peter actually realizes his mistakes and learns from them. There is a cause and an effect.

Unlike Peter in TASM, who learns nothing and in turn comes across as wholly unsympathetic and unlikable. That's the movie's greatest sin. It made Peter Parker unrelatable. I did not identify with him at all. Now tell me, does Peter ever acknowledge that he was indirectly responsible for his uncle's murder?

Also, your argument is pretty bad when the only thing you can come up with is Peter yelling at his uncle.

Hans Zimmer: "And the movie just sort of sparkles whenever—because it could be so easily a movie driven by action, and it really is driven by charm and love and sparkling dialogue. And the chemistry between the characters is fantastic."

Emma Stone: "So there's all that and the script is very, very good. I'm very much looking forward to it."

Andrew Garfield: "This time we have this very, very good script that makes a lot of sense. I almost cried. Because I was like. This is what we’ve needed and this is what we were missing a little bit in the first one. I just felt this warm rain of reassurance rushing through my soul."

Dane Dehaan: "It’s awesome. It really is. It’s human and it’s deep and it’s also epic and still a huge superhero movie. But it all makes sense and it all comes from very human elements and I think people are really going to love it."

And they do not use word "I think it´s good" but they use "It really is"
