Right off the news of Will Smith never speaking to Jared Leto out of character while filming "Suicide Squad", Grant Morrison revealed in an exclusive with Gamesradar that he gave Jared Leto some guidance on his approach to the Joker.

"He [Leto] called me to talk about his approach to the character and I steered him in a few directions. I'm keen to see if anything other than slicked back hair and the Marilyn Manson vibe made it into his performance"

Morrision also voiced his opinion on current CBM needing to take more chances. "I don't think I've seen any great ones for a while. Age of Ultron was solid, but naturally not quite the gamechanger the first Avengers was. We're all familiar with the meat and potatoes superhero stuff, so I think it's time they made Miracleman, Enigma, Flex Mentallo, or something else that's a bit more challenging."

Some interesting points from the All-Star Superman and Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth author. It'll be interesting to see if any of his Joker from the Batman R.I.P. run make it into Suicide Squad.

What do you think of this news? Is Morrison a welcome helping hand to the DCEU? Which Morrison Joker would you like to see Leto take points from? Is this really news or is it just a slow day? Leave your comments below, and as always; take care of one another.

Directed by David Ayer from his script, Suicide Squad starts Will Smith (Deadshot), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flagg), Jared Leto (Joker), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jair Courtney (Capt. Boomerang), Viola Davis (Amanda Waller), Cara Delevingne (Enchantress), and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agabje (Killer Croc). The film releases on August 5th, 2016.

What does Grant Morrison know about comic books not calling AOU a gamechanger? Right guys?

All seriousness I agree. We haven't seen any CBMs of late to be great like The Dark Knight or Spider-Man 2 level.

Grant is probably the best person to talk to about Joker with Leto.

No other Joker in comics IMO has topped Grant's Joker in Arkham Asylum A Serious House On Serious Earth

Grant is amazing, but the only person Leto should talk to when it comes to Joker is Mark Hamill. It's one thing to write the insanity that is the Joker, it's another having to perform it and become him for hours everyday for years

@Jeight

Don't get me wrong. Love Avengers, DOFP, & Cap 2 but there's one key factor that holds it back that Spidey 2 has.

Hero/villain relationship.

Both Peter and Otto are brilliant men who received powers and in their quest to achieve game lost someone.

Key difference is Peter used his power for good and gave up his dreams. Ock wasn't able to give up on his dreams like Peter.

Only CBM with better hero/villain relationship is TDK

I agree and disagree with his statement, to me some other stand out or game changers are DOFP and Winter Solider.

@Levi

Spiderman 2 is one of the best CMBs out there hands down!!!!!! And Nolan's two first Batmans were the biggest game changers IMO. And last note Avengers was a big game changer as well, but AOU was a let down.

That is why @jeight you thought I was trolling when I said I was not excited for Civil War. I was being honest, to me it is going to be Avengers 2.5.

superhero movies that stand out imo would be TDK, Watchmen, Man Of Steel, Ironman1, Avengers, CATWS. Everything else is pretty much average or below. but I'm not complaining. id rather get an average Thor movie than none at all...
What a great time to be alive when all our favourite comic book characters are brought to life on the big screen.
shit, i could only dream of this kinda thing when i was a kid.
Some of you lot are just spoilt brats though. lol

Why am I not surprised? Jared Leto's Joker seems highly reminiscent of Grant Morrison and Frank Miller's.

I've got a first print hardcover edition of Morrison's Arkham Asylum,still the scariest looking Joker I have ever seen.

@marvel72

Morrison's AA was the first Batman comic I ever fully read. I mean yea I got single issues as a kid, though not like all the issues to a complete arc, but AA was the first I read and it was so creepy, scary, and disturbing.

Love every second of it :)

@LEVITIKUZ

They need to adapt this to animation like they are doing with Batman:The Killing Joke,They could make a movie of this but I don't think it would be anything less than R-Rated which Warner would never risk with Batman as they still have a target audience of kids as well as adults.
