While visiting Seattle's 106.1 KISS FM radio station to promote Insurgent earlier this week, actor Jai Courtney talked for the first time about Suicide Squad, in which he plays George "Digger" Harkness aka Captain Boomerang. "I'm not on set [yet, but] I'm about to ship out as we speak," he said. "I'm going to Toronto to [start] shooting." Courtney was then asked if his bulked physique is for the supervillain role. "Yeah it is a little," he replied, adding, "I'm playing an Aussie, so I've just been eating meat pie and drinking beer; it's such a stretch." In a separate interview with Seattle's King5 news station, the Aussie actor had expressed excitement to be playing an Australian character with Captain Boomerang, while also reconfirming that he'll be in Toronto, Canada next week for the DC Comics adaptation. In other Suicide Squad news, the Associated Press recently recorded Jared Leto on video confirming what we've already known about his bleached blonde hair: "It's for a film called Suicide Squad [and] I'm playing the Joker, so it's part of the process." He'll probably be a good Captain Boomerang. I mean really, he just has to play a cocky asshole, and that's pretty easy to do.

I kinda still have faith in this guy, I liked him in Divergent.
Maybe playing an Aussie will make him more comfortable and less wooden.

He really needs to loosen up and have some fun with Captain Boomerang.

I mean, he isn't playing a Joker-type character. He's talented enough for Captain Boomerang. Plus, this is the David Ayer who made Shia Labeauf acting on par with Brad Pitts.

You know, I think Jai as Boomerang is a good fit. I mean Jai is not leading man material and not the world's best actor but I think with him in the Skwad he could be a showstealer.

Still I think Suicide Squad will be the best comic book movie of 2016. Either that or Deadpool.

based on the talent this movie could really go in either direction but I'm really hoping it goes well because it is such a unique concept

His costume better be a combination of both terribly cheesy and ridiculously badass at the same time. I wonder if they will get into him being a racist.

I have my hesitations, but if anyone can create a decent character, at a minimum, out of George "Digger" Harkness it's David Ayer.

It's also satisfying knowing that we may, after all, get an Endgame type of Joker, with Leto confirming that haircut. There are just too many signs pointing to it, in my opinion.

Hopefully he will keep his australian accent. Plus do we know yet if his son Owen Mercer exists in this universe too. If so I could see Captain Boomerang dying and his son being in the next Suicide Squad movie.
