SUICIDE SQUAD Director David Ayer Says Fans Should Ask AT&T And HBO Max For The "Ayer Cut"

After reiterating that a different version of Suicide Squad does indeed exist, director David Ayer has suggested that fans should petition AT&T and HBO Max if they want Warner Bros. to #ReleaseTheAyerCut.

Suicide Squad director David Ayer dropped plenty of hints over the years that Warner Bros. made some huge changes to his version of the DC Comics adaptation, but it wasn't until Zack Snyder's Justice League was officially confirmed for HBO Max that he started becoming really vocal.

Since then, Ayer has revealed plenty of intriguing details about what his take on Task Force X was going to look like, and there's been a surge of support behind the #ReleaseTheAyerCut campaign.

Now, the filmmaker has once again taken to Twitter to confirm that his cut of Suicide Squad is being kept somewhere in Warner Bros., while indicating that fans need to start asking AT&T (the parent company of Warner Bros.) and the HBO Max streaming service (which Justice League will call home) if they want to see "David Ayer's Suicide Squad."

Whether that's something any of those parties are interested in is hard to say, but there's certainly a lot of support behind the idea, and Ayer isn't shying away from raising awareness about it.

Look, am I intrigued about what his original version looked like? Sure. But am I bothered enough to go and tweet at companies and beg them for something so menial when there’s bigger things to be worried about in the world? Not really.

@MikeyL - Just sayin': The time it took to write this comment could have been spent tweeting at companies, since there are bigger things to be worried about either way. 😏

I'm sure they'll have to spend less to edit in all the parts cut from his movie that the 30+ millions poured into the Snyder cut.
Would be less of a gamble.

I'm down.

I can't be bothered to campaign or anything, but I would definitely sign up to HBO if this was on.
I already bought the Extended Cut on Blu-Ray, thinking it was the JokerCut/AyerCut (it wasn't. It was extended by like two seconds).
I need to see this. Been waiting way longer for this than Snyder's JL.

This "release the (insert director here) cut" stuff is starting to be a pandora box that should not be opened.

Except Superman II was a classic for decades before they did that and his footage had already been shot. I think there was a genuine understanding at the time that the "Donnor Cut" was a special case and some new trend where if you constantly gripe at studios, they will release any previous cut of a film you want.

Look, The reason I was always on board with seeing the Snyder cut is because not only am I curious about what Snyders original intent was, but the cause was also used by some people for positive repercussions, such as all money for merch about the "snyder cut" going to charities about suicide prevention. I will always have some respect for those people for taking something that they want and using it to actually help the world, and hey at least Snyder himself never got as involved as this, did he add fuel to the fire? Sure, but he never went "OH YEAH TELL WB TO RELEASE THE SNYDER CUT"

This here is just sad and pathetic, Suicide Squad is awful and I have no interest in seeing it again, especially cause it wouldn't be as dramatic a change as Justice League will probably be. If you want it so bad Ayer go to AT&T and WB and just make a pitch. Simple as that, if they say no move on. Simple as that, there is no tradegy tied to this movie, you didn't have your daughters death as an excuse to essentially fire you, you made a movie and the studio wanted to change it. Accept it and move on.

While I am curious to see his version.. it's probably not much better than what we got. With the Snyder cut you are talking a completely different movie with mostly all new footage/takes. Whereas the Ayer cut probably has a few minor tweaks and added scenes. Feel bad for Ayer but this is a little much.
