There were only a few cameos in The Suicide Squad, most of which we saw in Belle Reve. However, one that might have easily passed you by was Kaleidoscope, a relatively obscure character from the comic books who was played by actress Natalia Safran. The wife of veteran DC producer Peter Safran, she's also had cameo roles in Aquaman (Queen Rina) and Shazam! (Mrs. Sivana).
Now, with The Suicide Squad playing in theaters and on HBO Max, Safran has shared a series of behind-the-scenes photos from the movie putting the spotlight on her Kaleidoscope transformation.
If the character doesn't ring a bell, don't worry, as she's only actually appeared twice in the DC Universe in the pages of The New Adventures of Superboy issues #36 and #37. The villain was created by Chris Lawson and Nancy Mae Lawton, and is capable of conjuring up illusions using light (like, well, a kaleidoscope).
This obviously isn't a character with a lot of history on the page. As a result, The Suicide Squad marks her live-action debut, and while she only had a couple of lines in the movie, this was a real deep dive into DC lore by writer and director James Gunn.
