While James Gunn's
The Suicide Squad has been described as a "total reboot," it seems like the filmmaker may not be straying as far from the first instalment as we thought.
In a new interview, Jai Courtney has confirmed that he will return as Captain Boomerang in the sequel/reboot and this does actually make sense, especially as we know Will Smith was courted to return as Deadshot before scheduling conflicts resulted in Idris Elba replacing him as the anti-hero.
"We’re getting ready to shoot in a few months’ time," the Australian actor confirmed.
"There’s not much else I can reveal about it but yes, you’ll be seeing Boomerang back for sure. I’m happy, it’s going to be fun. It will be different, for sure, but it’s going to be great."
This is awesome news, especially as Boomerang was up there with Deadshot and Harley Quinn as one of
Suicide Squad's best characters. There's an awful lot Gunn could do with the villain, too, and here's hoping he won't just return to be killed off as a passing of the torch for the new cast members and characters who will make up Task Force X in Gunn's movie.
How do you see things playing out? Are you excited to see Captain Boomerang back in action?
