The Suicide Squad writer and director James Gunn recently appeared on Josh Horowitz's Happy Sad Confused Podcast, and revealed that a Guardians of the Galaxy cast member is in the movie.
"People know I almost cast Dave [Bautista] in a role and he couldn't do it, so he didn't," the filmmaker said, alluding to the actor instead choosing to appear in Army of the Dead. "But other than that, well, there might be a Guardian somewhere in the film that no one has seen yet..."
Honestly, we spotted it and didn't think it was that big a secret!
For those of you wondering who it is and where in the movie you'll find this cameo, when Task Force X head to a bar in Corto Maltese, Mantis actress Pom Klementieff shows up as a singer. That's the extent of her role in The Suicide Squad, and she is pretty recognisable and not exactly disguised.
Klementieff was actually spotted dining out with the cast of the movie way back in 2019, and it was widely speculated at the time that she must have been cast in the DC Comics adaptation.
Unfortunately, Gunn has yet to reveal who Bautista was going to play, and unless he was eyed for one of the Task Force X members in the movie, we couldn't begin to guess which character he'd have been cast as (it's no secret that the Drax actor wants to bring Bane back to the DCEU, though).
The Suicide Squad arrives in theaters and on HBO Max tonight!
