SUICIDE SQUAD Wins Academy Award For Best Makeup & Hairstyling

While Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice cleaned up at last night's Razzie Awards, DC's other 2016 offering, David Ayer's Suicide Squad, is now an Oscar-winner. Come take a look!

Suicide Squad has won an Academy Award.

Yes, really.

Against all odds, David Ayer's critically-reviled blockbuster earned itself an Oscar win for Best Makeup & Hairstyling earlier tonight at the 89th Academy Awards, edging out both Star Trek Beyond and the Swedish drama A Man Called Ove.

Alessandro Bertolazzi, Giorgio Gregorini, and Christopher Nelson were on-hand to accept the award, the first for all three winners.

While its nomination was met with much online ridicule, its win should probably not come as a huge surprise, especially considering it recently also won Best Period and/or Character Makeup for a Feature Motion Picture at last week's Makeup Artists and Hair Stylists Guild Awards.

Following Suicide Squad's win, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them won the Academy Award for Costume Design - becoming the first Harry Potter film to secure an Oscar.

So, what do you guys think? Who else are you pulling for tonight? Sound off with your thoughts below!

It feels good to be bad… Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?

Well deserved, but I still hope they get rid of the Jokers' tattoos in the sequel.

@blackandyellow - I've gotten used to it tbh I barely even see it. Hated it at first but now I I've really come to like the look. Do think the costume test with the full metal teeth looked cooler tho

@GarthRanzz - I think because they feel tacked on and it doesn't fit with certain peoples depiction of the Joker

The makeup was great. If this was a cosplay photoshoot for a comic related magazine it would have been amazing. Not as a movie though.

Star Trek should've won.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - Then according to your logic, Killer Croc could be passable as what I just flushed down the toilet.
