We've heard rumblings that James Gunn might be working on a second The Suicide Squad spinoff, and the filmmaker has now confirmed that another show is indeed in the early stages of development for HBO Max. Unfortunately, he wasn't about to reveal which character it'll focus on!
“We’re working on something else now, another TV show that’s connected to that universe,” Gunn told Deadline from the set of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. “I can’t say anything," he added when prodded for more. "It is connected to this universe, and I don’t think it will be the same genre as Peacemaker; it won’t be as much a comedy as Peacemaker, but it will be in the same universe.”
There have been rumors that Bloodsport might be in line for his own series, but the trade notes that Idris Elba's schedule probably wouldn't allow him to squeeze in a new TV show - ditto Margot Robbie. Given the character's popularity, our money is on Daniel Melchior's Ratcatcher II, but that's pure speculation at this point.
Gunn also weighed in on the prospect of Peacemaker getting a second season, and he certainly sounds optimistic. “There’s a really good chance of that,” he said. “We’re the biggest show in the world right now. We’re excited, we all like doing it, we just need to cross some ‘T’s and dot some ‘I’s, which is basically me.”
