King Shark is a shark!

A new Shark Week TV Spot for The Suicide Squad has been officially released online, and it contains quite a bit of new footage from James Gunn's DC Comics "requel." As you might expect, the focus is placed on Nanaue, aka King Shark, as we get to see just how dangerous a seven-foot humanoid shark can be to have around.

After we get to hear some more of Sylvester Stallone's dialogue ("so smart, me!"), there's a quick glimpse of the ravenous fish-man attempting to swallow Ratcatcher II (Daniela Melchior) while she's sleeping. From what we can gather, the rodent-controlling youngster goes against Bloodsport's (Idris Elba) advice to trust KS not to eat his friends!

Hey, he was hungry!

Check out the new promo below, and keep an eye out for the first social media reactions over the next week or so.

"Welcome to hell — a.k.a. Bell Reve, the prison with the highest mortality rate in the US of A. Where the worst Super-Villains are kept and where they will do anything to get out — even join the super-secret, super-shady Task Force X. Today's do-or-die assignment? Assemble a collection of cons, including Bloodsport, Peacemaker, Captain Boomerang, Ratcatcher 2, Savant, King Shark, Blackguard, Javelin, and everyone's favorite psycho, Harley Quinn. Then arm them heavily and drop them (literally) on the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese."
"Trekking through a jungle teeming with militant adversaries and guerrilla forces at every turn, the Squad is on a search-and- destroy mission with only Colonel Rick Flag on the ground to make them behave...and Amanda Waller’s government techies in their ears, tracking their every movement. And as always, one wrong move and they’re dead (whether at the hands of their opponents, a teammate, or Waller herself). If anyone’s laying down bets, the smart money is against them—all of them."

We recently found out that the movie was officially rated R for "strong violence and gore, language throughout, some sexual references, drug use and brief graphic nudity."

The Suicide Squad is set to premiere on HBO Max and in theaters on August 6.

Anyone else hoping they just spend the next 20 years making Suicide Squad movies, but with a new director each time, completely standalone, but set in the DCEU. Great way to adapt different villains from the DC universe,
imagine a Edgar Wright Suicide Squad or Christopher Nolan SS or Russo Bros SS, or Taika Watiti SS or Jon Favreau SS

The one problem I have with comic book movies is that they are always setting up sequels. Suicide Squad is the perfect franchise where you could have one filmmaker introduce a bunch of DC villains per movie, do whatever they like with them and then hand over to another director for a completely different style SS movie

@dancingmonkey08 - that was kinda my hope if they decided to do a new joker movie. New director, new actor playing Joker, different origin.

Feel like King Shark is already a highlight of the movie.

That CG was super spotty in the beginning. I feel like they know king shark is going to steal the show so they’re giving him a lot of attention. I genuinely excited to see who they actually kill. Also I can’t believe it’s almost august

Terrible, the CGI looks like it's from the 90s.

Sweet. Cant wait him and pokadot man are going to steal the show.

Just rewatched Superman The Movie, Superman 2 The Richard Donner Cut and Superman Returns for the first time in a while.

Superman The Movie : Still the gold standard for live action Superman (Superman and Lois is coming for it)

Superman 2 The Richard Donner Cut : Way better than the theatrical cut and clearly what made that cut work was Donner’s footage. Only problem is the stuff that isn't in it because Donner didn't get to film it.

Superman Returns : It’s actually a lot better than I remember. Not long ago I would say its on par with Man Of Steel just on the opposite side of the spectrum but no, this is the better movie. Could have used more action and a less familiar plot. Too bad this didnt continue, the problems could have been worked out in the sequel the same way X-Men’s were. Really its problems boil down to one thing, it’s not about Superman. Superman is in it and gets focus but it’s really Lois’s story more than his.

Stallone was almost Superman but Brando vetoed it. Stallone hated him for that

I wouldn’t mind a bit of Daniela Melchior in my mouth.

Just under 26 short revolutions until Frittata Day Part Deux. The first was way more enjoyable than any theater experience I've ever had. Gonna miss same day home releases if they go away though. I'll get it while the gettin' is good I guess.

@inkniron - what the fizzy [frick] are you talking about?

Is it some sort of weird sex thing? Never mind, don't tell me if it is.

On second thought, I really need to know if it is. I may have a new kink.

@DartOfHarkness - It could become my new ritual for hybrid releases for blockbusters if the continue. If I do like I did with Black Widow, I'll - Leave the keys to my shop with my #2, prep a nice frittata with sausage & peppers the night before, sleep in til my better half wakes up, make some coffee, pop that bad boy in the oven, turn on TSS, about halfway through, refill the coffee, fill our bellies whilst enjoying a nice breakfast and the rest of the movie. It really was a nice way to start a lazy day. I highly recommend it.

You can't do that at your local cinema and it kept me ahead of any spoilers.

I hope they don't go with the whole friendship approach again. Assault on Arkham worked so well because they were all a bunch of assholes who betrayed each other in the end. They ARE villains, after all. Still, I'm sure this is a significant improvement over the 2016 turd.

I'll need to sign up for HBO-MAX again for a month. I'll watch a few other things during that time, including the two South Park specials.
