In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question – Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Diane Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman,” not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.

Starring Henry Cavill, Michael Shannon, Amy Adams, Russell Crowe, Laurence Fishburne, Kevin Costner and Ayelet Zorer, Man of Steel is set to hit theatres on June 14, 2013.

The only reason that critics don't like it is because:
1. Too much action (WTF? There was almost none in the past flms!)
2. Not like the Donner movies

So yeah I wouldn't trust the critics on this one.

I love it when fan boys (either Marvel or DC) are all for Rotten Tomatoes and their movies until the ratings drop then it's, "who cares about Rotten Tomatoes".

Both fan groups do it. I find it funny.

I'm gonna predict what happens with man of steel.

-for a month everyone will love calling it the greatest comicbookmovie ever because they want it to be...then reality will hit and everyone will notice this is the same story in every other comicbookmovie out there especially spiderman. #BOYBECOMINGMANBYTAKINGRESPONSIBILITYWHENLEARNINGOFGREATPOWER

SAME OLD, SAME OLD

rest in peace man of steel, the greatest thing you can do is bring us Justice League which will use the same formula as man of steel and the avengers...of course with a little dark knight thrown in there...they just love Nolan.

I am cracking up there are only 40 reviews posted on RT and certain people are acting like it is the end of the world. We need to see how this going to shake out over the weekend if you are counting RT as the Holy Bible. I mean they usually post 250 to 260 reviews.

Only number that matters: Box Office Dollars.

Take Green Lantern, not a great movie, but if it hadn't have flopped we'd have got a sequel.

Rotten Tomatoes got some rotten critics, who critics like this...

Witney Seibold - CraveOnline: "Whatever."

Guess he did not have time to write a proper review, or maybe he was drunk?1?

@JoeMomma29

I agree but after like 50 reviews Movie doesn't go more than 5% percent above or under their current % rating.

I'm still going to watch this movie and I can bet anything that I will enjoy it more than IM3 or The Avengers....maybe critics hate Mr. Snyder.

@ HellsHammer

Thank you for agreeing with me, it is driving me nuts that people are using 40 reviews at this point to say that MOS sucks etc... Dang even if MOS ends up with 59 bad reviews it will be on pace to be at 78% with IM3 which all the Marvelites thought was a masterpiece.

Cracks me up!

It's a shame. Having seen the film I can attest it's in my top 3 CBM's of all time. Yet for some reason critics and fans alike will knock DC's films for not having as much humor and light heartedness as Marvel films... Then will knock Marvel films for not having as much "Darkness" and "Grit" as DC films. I wish people could appreciate each franchise for what it is.

Is there a lot of action? Hell yes. Too much action? After the lackluster action sequences that superman has been given in TV and Films... Hell no.

This is an action film with a lot of heart. It's like watching a live action version of the Animated JLA version of superman. It was everything Superman fans wanted and more. Snyder should be commended for his efforts and I sure hope this makes a big enough splash to see where this universe could go in future films.

JoeMomma29 - 6/11/2013, 2:01 PM
@Masterpace

Who says that? I would say if most reviews are in then you are spot on but there are only 40 reviews in. Logically you can say that more negs have come in but if you get a slew of positives that will change the percentage drastically or did I miss a math class over percentages?!?!?!?
DudeGuy
DudeGuy - 6/11/2013, 2:02 PM
I honestly dont even give a damn about RT. It's just made up of a bunch of opinions. Just because the site says a percentage of critics liked or didn't like a movie doesn't really affect our opinion. Hobbit only got a 65% and I had a blast in that movie.
JoeMomma29
JoeMomma29 - 6/11/2013, 2:02 PM
@ Jaywing

After IM3 I lost all trust in critics because the majority of us on this site know that movie was just terrible, even Marvel fans were disappointed. The only ones who defended it down to the bone was the Marvelites etc...

Oh well I guess this is the part where I say I need to get a life! LOL!
JoeMomma29
JoeMomma29 - 6/11/2013, 2:04 PM
@ HellsHammer

So true! The problem with critics is personal opinion, though in the back of all our minds we do want justification or reassurance of some sort.
Minotauro
Minotauro - 6/11/2013, 2:05 PM
@JoeMomma29 - When RT says IM3 @ 78% is higher than MoS. Then that tells you everything you need to know about the attitude of critics and RT compared to Donnors films and Synders Superman today. Sad, that even when people are given the Superman they know of this generation. The last generation is there to [frick] it up for us.
JoeMomma29
JoeMomma29 - 6/11/2013, 2:07 PM
@ Minotauro

I would agree with you, but again we are basing that on only 40 reviews we still have 210 reviews to go.
MarkV
MarkV - 6/11/2013, 2:10 PM
The thing that's disappointing in the Rotten Tomatoes score is that it shows that general audiences don't really want a Superhero film that I do. I want something very serious, very epic. It seems like the average movie goer wants something light and fun in a summer flick. 78% for IM3, and I thought it was much too goofy.
Luckily Joss Whedon was able to strike a balance in Avengers, but that film was still a little cartooney. I LOVE it, but I am hoping for something a little more.
Jaywing
Jaywing - 6/11/2013, 2:12 PM
@markV if you like your CBM's serious and epic (as do I) you will LOVE man of steel.
Minotauro
Minotauro - 6/11/2013, 2:17 PM
@JoeMomma29 - Yep, there is still over 150 reviews yet to come to balance it out for good. But, when critics say "I like when superman saves cats, old ladies across the road, or red underwear(seriously)", then that's all you need to know on where their perception of Man of Steel. The opposite of "praise".
JoeMomma29
JoeMomma29 - 6/11/2013, 2:20 PM
@ Minotauro

I agree with you on that 100% hopefully the movie got some of the worst reviews out of the way or who know it may bomb at end up around 68% which will be sad.

Just reminded me what a total piece of crap Superman Returns was.
Masterpace
Masterpace - 6/11/2013, 2:22 PM
@JoeMomma29

I think you misunderstood me. I'm not saying it's not possible but usually movies at rotten tomatoes don't go from 70%[with 50 reviews or whatever the number is now] to 90%...it of course would be possible if they will throw like 200 fresh reviews but it's not going to happen. Still it is my most anticipated movie of the year. I didn't like Donner's or this other guy who make just another Donner's superman movies.

BTW I think it is weird how bad Man of Steel is doing in "top critics" part of RT. And it's really annoying when they say that there's to much action and they would like more kind, heartfelt, saving cats from the trees Superman...again. I remember only two scenes from past Supermans...and only one of those because it was good.
