We've known for a while now that both Superman and Lois Lane will factor into this year's Arrowverse crossover and a first official image of the iconic couple has been released by The CW today.

As you can see, it's a shot which immediately brings back memories of Richard Donner's classic Superman movies and Clark and Lois are expected to play a major role in the event which will see characters like Green Arrow and The Flash meet the Man of Steel for the very first time.

According to Tyler Hoechlin, the relationship between Clark and Lois will be "very strong" when we meet them as "It’s deeper into the relationship, so there’s that comfortability factor and they know each other so well. They really kind of have a life together."

Honestly, it's sounding like a pretty perfect take on the characters and with Superman also set to don a black suit, it's bound to be a crowd-pleasing affair! The Elseworlds crossover event kicks off on December 9th, and is also set to introduce Batwoman to this corner of the DC TV Universe. What do you think of this first look?

In the Death of Superman animated movie earlier this year, Clark and Lois's relationship was one of the strong points. No drama, heartfelt, understanding, they get each other with a simple word, act like adults, no BS, I'm glad WBA and the CW get Superman and Lois. It would have been easy to [frick] their relationship once again, and make it cheesy teen drama, or glacial as in the DCEU.

That's the most Superman any live-action rendition of Superman has looked in AGES! Damn, I missed this hopeful boy scout.

@Ragnarocknroll - IKR? Hoechlin is looking VERY Superman here. It's nice to see a Superman with a [frick]in smile on his face for a change.

Seeing this honestly reminds me that Amy Adams was mis cast for Lois in the DCCU. I know she’s an amazing actress but she just doesn’t have the grit Lois should have!

Much preferable than the disgrace that was sleazebag Henry Cavill doning the S, can't go back in time just have to move past it.

Never again.

I'd watch the crap out of a Superman TV show. Hope if it happens they can afford a better suit though. Wouldn't have to be traditional, just deserves a bit more cinematic look.

@FleischerSupes - This to me is Superman! Probably generational but who knows. Still my favorite S emblem too. I get that nobody will ever make Supes wear try again but does anybody else think that the CW’s costume would be better with a yellow/gold belt? I mean Supergirl’s suit looks damn near perfect. Partly because of the red skirt but the yellow/gold belt looks great.
