Greetings CBMers!

While the aptly titled Lex-list has been almost all-encompassing, including such names as Bryan Cranston, Billy Zane and even the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio. One name we haven't seen thrown around too much has been veteran Lex Luthor actor Michael Rosenbaum himself!

Well the actor in question has officially thrown his hat into the ring for the part and he's asking Superman-fans for their support! He sent out the following tweet today on Twitter, taking a jab at Bryan Cranston's Breaking Bad role in the process!

Mr. Rosenbaum sent out that ominous tweet while providing a link to the Lex Luthor casting thread on Buzz Focus. Right now the front-runner still appears to be Mark Strong...but how would you guys & gals feel about a return to Smallville in the form of Michael Rosenbaum's chrome dome for the proposed Man of Steel sequel?

i do feel like he seems to young, but my god he certainly was the best live action incarnation of Lex! so sure why not!

*Yawn* He made a better Flash, he should be campaigning for that instead. He's too boyish looking to play a political hardened jackass with a very obvious sexual fetish towards an alien.

I have actually been wanting to see Rosenbaum vs. Cavill in the Superman sequel as Lex Luthor vs. Superman. Would be epic IMO

Also, Mark Strong would be a terrible choice for Lex. Sure he'd act great, but Lex Luthor is more of a behind-the-scenes villain as where let's say.... Mark fits Sinestro better because he has a more formidable presence of screen. He needs to be an active villain.

If Rosenbaum is gonna be Lex, Welling better be Kyle Rayner.... Or Batman.... Or someone.... [frick], Welling is too golden not to shine as another hero.

he won't get any role in MOS sequel or JL because o Smallville.
His role was too big. Casting department won't even consider him.
They know it would be too confusing.

@Nomis- My two favorite live action Lex Luthors were always John Shea and Michael Rosenbaum.

And since Rosenbaum modeled his Lex after Shea, I gotta give the slight edge to Shea. But Rosenbaum was great too

@CaptainSteel- Yeah i could totally get on board with Toby Stephens as the nefarious LEX LUTHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR!!!

He has the snobby, rich guy look. But for some reason I'd want Toby Stephens to be the version of Lex that still has hair. Then slowly work towards him losing his hair possibly. But who knows.

Michael Rosenbaum was the best live-action Lex, so yeah.

Even though Smallville was a crappy show, he was the embodiment of Lex Luthor. He was the best live action Lex we've ever gotten, and I hope whoever takes the role in the sequel to MoS takes note and gives him credit.

I mean no disrespect to Michael but it will look like Smallville all over again and it will suck if he played Luthor in the MOS sequel.

Michael is a great Luthor but... NO.

YES. He is the perfect Lex Luthor.

@Banner- Sorry but Spacey's Lex doesn't exist to me :P

For me the epitome of live action Lex Luthors always were and always will be- John Shea and Michael Rosenbaum.

If he bulks up, be it in fat or muscle, and watches the animated series and works on sounding "bigger", he may do alright.

@sweeper... a black Lex Luthor looks intriguing just like what Marvel did with Nick "Mutha[frick]a" fury, and Michael playing Lex is a big NO.

MattBracken - 6/27/2013, 12:43 AM
Definitely MARK STRONG, he will nail the role.

@LP4 yeah you're right, Superman Returns is garbage.
Dick
Dick - 6/27/2013, 12:47 AM
Brainiac and Lex Luthor should be the main villains in the sequel. I'm going for an African-American for Lex.

@MattBracken... Mark Strong should not play Lex because he already appeared as Sinestro in Green Lantern.

Michael Rosebaum is a great Luthor...for TV. 'Nuff said.
Dick

@JDUKE25 at least I won't be seeing Michael Rosenbaum in the MOS sequel if they got another actor to play Lex. If ever he get's the role it would be distracting for me because I might think that Tom Welling might be there lurking somewhere in that movie because of Michael "Lex Luthor" Rosenbaum.
