Joseph Gordon-Levitt Addresses The MAN OF STEEL Rumor

While at the Sundance Film Festival, Joseph Gordon-Levitt was asked about the rumor of him appearing in Man Of Steel as Batman. He also talks about being excited for Sin City: A Dame To Kill For.

Rumors, when they involve big blockbusters such as Justice League and Man Of Steel, can run wild. The latest involving those two films was that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is set to appear, as Batman, in the upcoming Zack Snyder Superman film Man Of Steel, to set up DC's Justice League movie. Gordon-Levitt was asked by MTV about this rumor where he shot it down, saying he hasn't even heard the rumor yet. Check the video out below, where he also talks about Sin City: A Dame To Kill For as well.

On Doing Sin City: A Dame To Kill For:

"'Sin City 2' is going to be fun. I'm playing a quintessential Rodriguez badass. It's going to be fun as hell."

On His Love For The First Sin City:

"I've made a lot of short films with hitRECOrd on green screen, and in my opinion, 'Sin City' is probably the best movie that's been made with that methodology. So I'm very eager to see how Rodriguez does it."

On The Man Of Steel Cameo Rumor:

"I hadn't heard that one. It just goes to show how much you can believe rumors. I don't think you should believe in any of them. If there's something I'm going to be in, I'm going to tell you about it. I put it on my Twitter that I was in Sin City 2, so TRUST me, I'll tell you."

While this, unfortunately, wont close the book completely on the rumor. It does seem to put a pretty big damper on it. However, with something as big as Man Of Steel and Justice League, it's very doubtful that WB would want him saying that he will be in either movie if they are trying to keep it hush hush. Will people let this go. Nolan's batman is over. He won't be appearing in man of steel or justice league. I highly doubt WB are stupid enough to do that, and if it is true then WB truly do not know what they're doing.

As much as I look up to Nolan and I love his Batman movies I would seriously love to stop hearing these rumors concerning his Batman films. It has already been said that he isn't involved with any more Batman movies nor is he involved with the Justice League so leave it alone.

great actor but no thanks on John Blake as Batman.

JGL Is too small to play the part anyway. No amount of prosthetic or apparatus can change the reality of his physical nature. PLEASE, stop with it already!

I'm just tired of Nolan, especially after TDKR. Can we just move on?

Exactly, Kuz. People are damn idiots. I was at my buddy's house couple months ago and he starts telling me how he saw the new Tarantino flick. I said "oh yeah, you saw Django?" He says "No we watched Man with the Iron Fists. What's Django?" So I had to explain how QT was a producer and such.
Just goes to show how dumb people are. They take a tiny nugget of info and just run with it. Nolan is just a producer, this is Snyder's baby. The Godfather has said as much in just about every interview since Dark Knight Rises came out. Sure I love the sentiment behind bringing in Angels In The Outfield in to continue his role as Batman. But let's be real, there is no Justice League without the real Batman. WB knows this. Guarantee we see a new Bruce Wayne if this flick ever comes out.

(Seriously though, throw Danny Glover in that pic and BOOM full blown Angels in the Outfield reunion! McConaughey gotta be nearby too. Who knows where the little black kid is now though)

If Tarantino were to make a Vega Bros I'd like to see JGL casted as Vincent.

JGL is a cool guy. Sad he's not going to be Star Lord.

If anything, I'm hoping Christian Bale (or another actor playing Bruce Wayne) makes a cameo in MOS as Batman. I thought the whole point of Bruce showing John Blake the Batcave was so that GOTHAM could be left in good hands. That would free up the true Batman to protect the whole planet with the Justice League.

It would be the twist of the century if this turns out to be true.

...um, am I the only person who thinks seeing Joseph Gordon Levitt's characters as the 2nd Batman would be kind of cool?

I'm serious, he's inherited the mantle, let's see him actually prove he can handle it. That seems like an interesting story to me.

sure, if his name was Jason Todd, Dikk Grayson, Stephanie Brown or Damian Wayne. otherwise, hell no. i

mo, its disrespectful to the fans of the previous mentioned characters. imo, their basically saying: "those guys suck, so here's John Blake, a better Legacy character then the ones you read in the comics"

I don't like the idea of JGL being batman in JLA because Bruce Wayne is still alive. JGL's death in JLA should force Bruce Wayne to return and join JLA.

I don't think in man of steel there will be any cameo of justice league nor Batman .... this movie is going to be stand alone title ....

Nolanverse doesn't have a Bruce Wayne. it only has a guy named Bruce Wayne.

He was a cool character, and an interesting way to end the greatest cbm trilogy, but hell to the no for him being Batman in the Justice League. I think everyone understands that it needs to be Bruce.

Do people really like the idea that a beat cop with no special training can pick up the whole "Batman" mantle? Even if he inherits the suit and gadgets, Wayne supposedly spent years wandering the world infiltrating criminal gangs to learn how they work from the inside and then trained to be an elite ninja.

I kind of hate Nolan's Batman mythos myself... it's so weak to me that Batman quits repeatedly, and only seemed to care about bringing down organized crime. "Well, Gotham is crime-free enough... I should let this whole thing go and live a happy life instead!" Or mope for a decade in my mansion because a criminal killed my girlfriend (apparently killing Batman's loved ones toggles him on and off.)

It'd be a cool little moment sure. But it should be a new Bruce Wayne to do it. No Nolan version of the characters/actors involved.

And JGL would not announce he's got a cameo in Man of Steel. They'd murder his tail if he spoiled that. WB wants to keep that a secret till it's released.

techinically, it was Harvey's girlfreind. Bruce was still in the Freindzone.

If Man of Steel is going to be ina cinematic universe than John Blake should introduced as Batman and tied into the TDK trilogy. If Man of Steel is a stand alone than The Justice League film should be a stand alone films like Justice League Unlimited.
BANEofExistence
BANEofExistence - 1/21/2013, 10:23 AM
If he appears in another dc film it should be as either nightwing or riddler, not batman. Bruce Wayne is batman not John Blake. Let it go people Nolan's films are solo continuity. If it was the same we wouldn't have a bane, joker, Talia, Ras al ghul, bale would be about 45 by time the FIRST Justice League is made, Michael Caine may not even live that long so let it go people!!!

I don't want him as the JL Batman, but having Batman in the Superman movie would definitely raise some eyebrows.
