Hello everyone, HEHE here to give you my review of the film, MAN OF STEEL. Now let me just say that in my recent article, I started a little flame war. Now I’m not going to lie, when I wrote and uploaded that article I knew exactly what I was getting myself into. I knew I was going to get people who argue with me and disagree with me but it became so bad that people started calling me out. Specifically with my education. I know I had tons of grammar mistakes in that article, and the reason for that is because I simply did not care for it. I literally finished the article in 2 minutes and did not re-read it or anything. But it had consequences because people start saying that my education is basically useless and that I suck at writing articles and spelling. For those who don’t know I go to New York Film academy. I am an up and coming director and Film Academy helps a lot. They teach you everything you need to know. And when I had users calling me basically stupid, I was looking for a way to prove them wrong. So this is the way. My review/thoughts on Man of Steel.

Let me start off as saying that I HATED this film. I never want to see it again. There are a lot of reasons for it, and my main reason for it is because of the action. It’s just too much. A lot of the action felt a little repeated. I know Superman debuted in ‘Action Comics’, but you still want to have some character development in the movie. For me, it was little character development and a lot of action. It was so much action I got a headache from it. It was just so overwhelming. Especially the third act. And since I saw it in IMAX, it was also too loud. I know that’s not the movie fault, but that is just a little nit-pick I have. Another gripe I have is that the pacing felt weird and out of place. It was obvious the movie had a nonlinear story going on. But it was just out of place for me. I wouldn’t mind if it was the flashbacks first, then thirty minutes into the film we finally get introduced to Clark. But that’s just me, I don’t know about the rest of you guys. Another thing I hated was Costner’s Johnathan Kent. He was an asshole in my opinion. I know he didn’t want Clark to expose his powers but telling him he should’ve let a bunch of kids die was just not right. I hated that scene. And the way he died…I also did not like that. Another gripe I have was that Amy’s Lois was just horrible in my opinion. I just didn’t like how they reincarnated her. I didn’t like how she found out Clark had those abilities early in the film. One of the things that make Superman special is that he always have to find a way to balance his Superhero life with personal life, and at the same time make sure no one finds out about his identity. That was just wasted in the film. The kiss between Superman and Lois was rushed. You would think they kissed because they had something special going on, but no. They kissed because it was almost the end of the film and the Director had to squeeze in that last minute kiss to tell the audience that they might have a future. I didn't like how Clark was basically living the nomadic life style. That’s really a nit-pick but I just didn't like it.

Now the things I did like. I liked Faora and Zod's relationship with each other. Zod and Faora were badass. They were ruthless. Especially Faora. I enjoyed her performance the most. Now even though I just bashed the action, I did enjoy some moments of it. Some parts were just jaw dropping. I enjoyed Russell Crowe, Diane Lane, and Laurence Fishburne's performances. I liked Christoher Meloni’s performance, but overall I didn’t get to know a lot about him to keep me interested in his character. I did Like Henry Cavill's interpretation of Superman/Clark. He was definitely a highlight of this film.

Now as you can see, I didn’t enjoy a lot. I never grew up a DC fan and will probably never be one. But let me just say that just because I didn’t enjoy this movie like a lot of you, does not mean I’m a troll, or asshole, or a dick. I just didn’t enjoy the movie. We can agree to disagree all we want to but the fact is I didn’t enjoy it and never will. Now just because my review says this movie is horrible, don’t let me judge it for you. If you haven’t seen this movie then you are more than welcome to. You might end up loving it.

Overall I give this movie a 1.5/5. I absolutely hated it. Hope you enjoyed my review, if you didn’t whatever, but see you fellow CBM users around.

"I'm not a troll, but I'm going to say I hate DC openly because I'm a troll."

You are a troll, and this is an educated guess, but I suspect not really a film student.

My friends and I wrote a screenplay for a science fiction drama movie. It never got past the first draft because we were to lazy to keep with the project but if you're interested I'll post it after I revisualize it :) thanks for the comment

The hardest secret for a man to keep is his opinion of himself. HEHE is not a film student. HEHE is not formally educated. The quality of the writing on this site is depressing and the increase in ads is frustrating.

I saw the movie an hour ago and it was great. One of the best CBMs ever. I will see it again and force my wife to join me. I still have Pacific Rim and The Wolverine this summer. The blessings just keep rolling in.

a bit of constructive critique. I don't know what qualifies one to write articles on this website, but the writer in me cries in pain. It is uncouth to begin an article/review with already predicting the flack you would get or the previous flack you got, or to state you "street-cred". It's your opinion buddy. Your intelligence and expertise should come alive in your article/review. Yes typos are apart of this.

I too believe the film sacrificed character development for visuals and action. And like you, Faora was a stand out. That's what happens when a writer actually attempts to delve into a character psyche in a movie as opposed to having such a character say things like "I'm a Pulitzer Prize reporter," and leave that theme there.

I hate the complaint that there was lacking character development. Every character developed and grew over the course of the movie-even the minor ones, like Jenny Jurwich, Steve Lombard, and Colonel Hardy.

By the way HEHE, I'm interested in your idea.
