Even if it was not part of the big announcement of shows renewed by the CW network. Reports from E! Online are saying that it will be very likely to return for another season because of the strong performance of the current season.

The network is still in negotiations with the actors, and they may be prepping the next season as the END-OF-THE-SERIES event.

I'm glad that there's a huge rambling for a season 10 of Smallville. Hopefully if its an end of the series event, it goes out with a bang. Then I'm hoping they have another Superhero series based on actual DC/Marvel comicbook characters to replace the void that Smallville will be leaving.

-ACCESS out. Godspeed and MABUHAY!

what is with you guys. they have repeatedly said that the last shot of the last show will be clark in his superman suit......why do you insist on hoping it happens sooner? just accept it and wait for the last shot.

I hope about a quarter to halfway through the season he learns to fly, and Superdog is right, THEY HAVE ALWAYS SAID "the last shot of the show will be him in the suit."

Ten is a nice round number, sounds perfect to me!

To hell with Smallville now....after 8 freakin full seasons, and so far 1/2 way thru this one, he still isn't flying?????
Talk about screwing over the fanbase.

I'm not even a DC fan, but like this show from the start...but I've finally given up!

Bring on a suit and flight, or f***king end this show already!!!

From Smallville's inception, Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, the show's creators, stated that their rule was "no flights, no tights." I'm okay with them not showing the suit until the final shot of the series. I'm probably in the minority when it comes to this show because I actually like it, but then again I don't consider this show canon. Only the comics imo can be considered "official" history of the character. On that note, I agree that 10 is a nice round number to end on. This show doesn't really have many more stories it can tell under the "Smallville" banner, considering most of the stories take place in Metropolis. The network might even think about changing the name of the show to Metropolis for the last season.

One entire decade of my life...wow. I'll miss it when it's gone though.

I think a lot of the main actors are signed up for 10. If they're having negotiations, then it must be for dun dun dun Michael Rosenbaum. They're going to have to do A LOT to get him back, even if it's for like the last two episodes. Maybe Perry too. He's coming for an episode this season, but he's got to be the editor of the Daily Planet.

Im guessing the reason they have not been renewed yet is because they are trying to figure out a cast for next year. They have stated that they would like to have perry on the show as much as they had Jimmy, and oliver on in season 6. Also they want to come up with a preliminary story.
I like the idea that they are going decide upfront that it is the last season. It will help the season flow better. Also you can bet the writers are going to be trying to come up with new idea's for dc show's next year.

"kitboy33 @ If your not a DC fan, don't [frick]ing watch it lol, problem solved! ; P "

@LEEE777, WTF does that have to do with anything. I said I wasn't a DC fan, but the show was good..it hooked me in. What...if you're never a DC fan to start with, you can't ever be???

All i'm saying is..after 8 [frick]ing seasons..he should at least know how to freakin fly!!..Thats not alot to ask.

Yes, Smallville's beginning was toted as no flying and no tights....but they never expected it to last this long either....so get on with the damn flying already or end the show...thats my thoughts. A non-flying "Superman" for 10 years is dumb..I don't care how you look at it. Oh I'm sorry...the "red/blue blur"..LOL

It's time to put the show out of it's misery now.

Smallville-has too many story lines right now pulling in diffrent directions...sigh...kandorians, checkmate, darkseid angle.........stick with the bottled up hopes and dreams of kandor..i believe their going to put them in a bottle..but..the number one issue if they have a season 10- suit, fly, naughty moment with lois.

Is it my imagination or did Superboy fly around in his
Superboy comic? Cuz I seem to remember Superboy flying
around in his comic book since the get-go! No flying?
Lamness stacked upon lameness till my brain is lame!

Who's the idiot who thought of him not fling on Smallville
in the first place anyway! That was a totally stupid
decision! If they're gonna do superheroes for TV and the
movies they need to stick with the facts of the actual comics!
The only guy who does that is Geoff Johns!

I'm really sick and tired of Hollywood & TV throwing out
almost everything that makes these characters who they are!
Stick with the comic book script you BLITHERING IDIOTS!
CRAAAAAPPPPP!!!!!!!!!

Thenk Yeeeewww!!!

DDD@ The reason he is not flying is because both the creators and the current writters believe that is what seperates him from becoming superman.
I do agree that in a certain extent they change what makes the characters who they are. The problem with any comic movie is that a writer has to take into acount that these characters were written 40-80yrs ago and they were written into those time periods. So if you think about it if superman who grew up in the 90's and 00's would be very diffrent than one who grew up in the 30's and 40's. This can work with other characters as well.

Also think how they wrote in a depresion in the nolan batman series. This was made to make the city closer to what it would have been when the character was first created.
