First Look At Smallville's Chloe Sullivan's Comic Book Debut!

TV Guide has the first official look at Smallville's Chloe Sullivan from her long-delayed DC Universe debut in Action Comics #893...

The character, played by Alison Mack in the TV series, will be introduced in the Jimmy Olsen co-feature by Nick Spencer and R.B. Silva that kicks off with this month’s Action Comics.

"She's a very successful and dedicated reporter and a major player in Metropolis," the comic book writer told TV Guide. "It's a pretty different continuity, which I think has always been the challenging part of bringing Chloe into the DC Comics Universe."

"She's never existed in the comics before, so in order to make a part of Clark's life when he was a teenager in Smallville, you'd have to do it somewhat retroactively, and it would age Chloe as a character a lot, since Superman is well past that part of his life in the books."

When quizzed about the role she'll have alongside Jimmy Olsen in the comic book series Spencer added, "She and Jimmy have a previous relationship and that causes him to embark on a huge adventure that takes him across space and alternate realities to prove something to himself and her."

ah, how cool that she finally made it into the comics. While her character was naggy and sometimes annoying, I think Alison herself is quite an excellent actress and a cutie too!

ROR: Thank you and I feel EXACTLY the same way! It's rare that I ever start hating an actor as much as the character they portray but I think I'd probably punch Alison Mack if I saw her in the street...I have nothing against her, and she might be a lovely person, but I hate Chloe with a passion! Thank [frick] she's only going to be in a handful of episodes this season.

I was never really bothered by Chloe's character, it was Lana that upset me. In every episode she was hit over the head and knocked out. You'd think she would have some type of brain damage after being hit so many times. But no, Lana just kept on ticking.

I'm not sure what I hate most - the fact that she developed from someone who wrote a school paper and dropped out of college into a genius capable of running a bastardized version of the Watchtower or the ridiculous lines she spouts off full of those idiotic pop culture references and witty remarks. Combined with the fact that Alsion Mack is a fairly crap actor and I have only one thing to say...

I HATE YOU CHLOE SULLIVAN!!!

I didn't realize how annoying she was untill Lana was written out of the show. Lana was just to big of a cry baby and Chloe with her dumb as trying to be witty reffrences. "Clark this is Chloe with message one to many." then stop calling dumb ass he doesn't want to talk.

When i skimmed the article title, I first read 'debut' as 'death' and got excited. And i'm a huge Smallville fan since Episode 1.

That being said, I have a sick fascination with her and find her oddly attractive. She talks too much and tries too hard. But i never hated her as much as that character Lana turned into.

Interesting.

Lana is the worst smallville character though. Leaves, comes back, and takes things back to where we where a few seasons ago in terms of Clark and Lois

I know, not just from reading on here, that this isn't someone any one on here likes. Which is an understatement. The character has gotten to a stage where she has become a nuisance in the show. Agreed with Josh about the feelings being transfered to the performer in question. Like the show, don't get me wrong I think it is entertaining, she has just become so overused to where I think she might have lost her point in being a part of the series.

This is supposed to be a new interpretation as it sounds and it would be interesting to see how this version turns out and how she might end up affecting the mainstream universe.

Chloe isn't the first person to be adapted into comic books, but when you think of the characters that were adapted, it'd kind of insulting. Chloe Sullivan and her terrible metaphors DOES NOT compare to Harley Quinn and X-23. Please kill Chloe in the next Infinite, Final, We Lied to You So Here's Another Crisis. They kill lots of characters nobody cares about during those.

I love Smallville and I think she's cute. I hated Lana from season 6 and further. But, if Chloe dies in the final season I really won't care that much, it won't have as big an impact as when they pulled a stupid move and killed Lex IMO.

@Hush

Everybody always likes to dump on that unaired Justice League series. But you might want to consider a couple of things. First take a look at the TV that was on the air at the time. Second and most importantly that pilot was a serious attempt to do SuperHeros and it was not camp. This was 3 years before the first X-men movie.

It did not work out, they really did not get it but they were trying to do it right. If they had succeeded this whole era of CBMs would have come a whole lot faster.

On Chloe in the comics...

Interesting to see this. When they take a Character from a TV show and adapt her to the comics she too comes out totally different. If I just saw the picture and heard the description I could not possibly get Chloe. Still nice to see.

Chloe is clearly an important character in Smallville, hate her all you want but the show would be clunky without her.

Without Chloe we'd just have scenes where Clark just monologued. Green Arrow can't fill the role Chloe does because Arrow has his own story, his own motives. Chloe is Clark's Alfred - because he is not yet Superman and can't stand on his own yet.

sweet Chloe is awesome and the only descent part of Smallville, other then Henry James. I am glad she is going to be in the comics finally, and they are going with a Chimmy angle.
