General Zod Cast for Smallville

Callum Blue will utter the immortal words, "Kneel before Zod."

Smallville has found their General Zod.

The Tudors's Callum Blue will play the famous Superman villain, who is known to mainstream audiences thanks to Terence Stamp's iconic portrayal of the character in Superman II.

While previous seasons had Zod as an off screen presence or manipulating others, this will mark the true introduction of the character. Expect Zod to be a major part of Season 9, as Blue will be a series regular. Blue's casting puts to rests rumors and speculation that Sam Witwer, who played Davis Bloome / Doomsday last season, would be playing Zod.

His casting follows Brian Austin Green's new role as Superman villain Metallo, who will appear in at least the first two episodes of Season 9.

Stamp portrayed Zod first in the 1978 original Superman by Richard Donner.

I totally agree with every word Anil said! Last season did suck some major ass and what are we just suppose to forget about DoomsDay who they basically based the whole season on last year? I think it would be nice if they just had one final season of him being Superman and not some Whiney, coward looking and Flash wannabe version of my favorite hero!!!!!!
Supermike
Supermike - 6/24/2009, 6:50 AM
Ok He not a t some Whiney, coward looking and Flash wannabe you make him sound like he a solider

I think that the problem with Supermike is that he ISNT on anything, lol! when he was back in the asylum he was ok...;)

i find it hard to care about any Smallville news after Season 8-the season was supposed to move things on and to begin with it did with Clark working at The Daily Planet and starting a relationship with Lois, then suddenly they bring Lana back and recycle that same old storyline that had been dragging on for 7 years. And as if that wasnt bad enough they spent 22 episodes setting Doomsday up resulting in that pathetci excuse for a finale-Zod will just be ANOTHER disappointment!!!

That guy doesn't really scream ZOD to me, I mean it looks like someone stepped all over his face, I couldn't be scared of a guy like that...

I could see this guy. I think Zod is a good move for the show. He would be a more subtle villain, constantly pulling the strings to work the angles in his favor. I think we will be seeing a lot more classic Superman villains.
JoshWilding
JoshWilding - 6/24/2009, 7:52 AM
Yup, more classic characters for them to ruin...sort of like with Jimmy or should that be Henry!? Sigh...

i still like the show, but it has gotten off the path lately. i think zod, even though he hasnt been on the show specifically, has been played out. a new villian was called for. they do have mettallo, but i think darkseid or maybe even mr. mxylplix would have been cool. he could of played all kinds of havoc
LEEE777
LEEE777 - 6/24/2009, 7:57 AM
If they bring in a lame watered down version of DARKSEID that's it! Kiss goodbye to SMALLVILLE! Damn that crappy DOOMSDAY! : D

Superdog @ Um, they have already had Mr Mxylplix or however you spell it a good few seasons back!
superdog
superdog - 6/24/2009, 8:02 AM
i know, but more than just one episode, hed be good for a long arc. and your right, they really couldnt do a good darkseid. it would definitely be watered down. he would probably be living inside some whiney emt guy or somehting and only come out at night except when hes horny for a blonde girl. oh wait.......
JoshWilding
JoshWilding - 6/24/2009, 8:11 AM
superdog: the way you describe Davis made me wanna laugh but when i thought about it and realised that pretty much sums up the character of Doomsday, it made me want to cry! ;)

I hope they give this ZOD the same Bee Gee's look with the open Chest shirt..lol

Naw, I hope they give him a decent updated look...but like the legion.....He will probably be wearing something you and I can pick up at the mall...sigh....

Teabag you are definitley one of the writers aren't you? :} It's like Beverly Hills 90210 meets The Flash!!
superdog
superdog - 6/24/2009, 8:27 AM
he will be wearing something from the mall. it seems like he would just be a replacement for lex. a guy manipulating things behond the scenes, tess doing his bidding etc.....both lionel and lex played the same part they just couldnt fly. but who knows, maybe zod wont either, no chest hair no tights, those are the rules.

Callum Blue was great in Dead Like Me. I think he'll really bring something to the table.

Damn Smallville...it's a tease. It's like that ex-girlfriend everyone has who is a total whore and sloppy drunk and she keeps making you THINK she's cleaning up her act...keeps putting out little morsels of good news, "Yeah Durkinknight, I stopped hitting the crackpipe," or "Yeah Durkinknight, I'm not gonna be a one-woman party item for the Alpha Sigma Sh1thead Frat House every Friday night anymore..." But as soon as you take her back, she's high as a cloud and has more mileage than your grandparents sedan! I'm NOT the only one with an ex like that right guys?...uh guys? Hmmmm you guys are shy about admitting it, that's what it is:D

teabag

I wanna put you in a cup and pour hot water on you.

Callum Blue was great in Dead Like Me, but he's basically comic relief in everything I've ever seen him in. I just don't see him as Zod. But I guess that's why I stopped watching Mallville in season 4.

And seriously... who let supermike post videos?

InstigatorGirl- LOL!

Anil- Yes the LEGION appearing was awesome. Hopefully we can see more of them in the coming season.

I am glad that we are actually going to see Zod and hopefully we will see him actually fight Clark for more than two minutes. I know asking for a lot but can we see Clark actually fight someone? I like this show but damn the major fights should have actually had fighting occur within them.

InstigatorGirl- Nice! Those are some big juggs. The funny thing is I saw a couple walk by me not too long ago that resembled this couple. Except the lady didn't have the knockers as big as in the picture.

DurkinKnight- I actually have two exs like that! Damn I used to be such a bad judge in character.
