SMALLVILLE Star Tom Welling Says He's Working On An Animated Continuation Of The CW Series

In news that's sure to make Smallville fans very happy, Tom Welling has revealed that he's working on an animated continuation of the CW series with costar Michael Rosenbaum.

While nothing has been made official yet (expect an imminent announcement), Welling spilled the beans during a Cameo video which has since been shared on Twitter.

"Michael Rosenbaum and I are actually working on an animated series to bring those characters back to life, and use as many of the original cast members as possible," said the actor in his message. "Don't tell anybody, though. It's a secret, we're still working on it."

Welling did reprise the role of Clarke Kent for the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event, but it was a very brief appearance and he didn't actually suit-up as Superman. Fans have been hoping for some kind of follow-up that would also feature Rosenbaum's Lex Luthor ever since the show ended back in 2011, and this mysterious animated project is probably the closest we'll get to a revival.

It sounds like things are only in the very early stages of development, and we have no idea if this will be a a new DC animated series for HBO Max or something else entirely. Whatever the case may be, there's a chance somebody somewhere is not too pleased about Welling letting the cat out of the bag here!

We'll hopefully gave more details to share soon, but for now let us know what you make of this news in the comments down below.
