Chloe Sullivan has been on Smallville as long as Clark she was never meant to be the character she is now the head of the futures most important origination for the justice league. She was supposed to be killed off after season 2. I love the role of Chloe Sullivan. But, for Clark to fulfill his destiny she has to go. Her death might be key to Clark flying. Through tragedy comes triumph Chloe has become one the greatest characters ever in the dc world but she never even been mentioned in the comics personally this is one the greatest mysteries in my life right now what happened that Chloe Sullivan was stricken from dc comic history she is Lois Lane’s cousin and is know by Superman, Green Arrow, The Flash, Cyborg, Aquaman, Black Canary, and Supergirl. She gave Jimmy’s camera to well jimmy inspiring him to follow in his older brother’s footsteps. She’s had a hand or two in spoiling Lex Luthors plans. She even has gotten extremely close to Oliver Queen. Which leads to big question is WHAT HAPPENED THAT THERE IS NO METIONED OF HER. She has had a hand in everything that makes superman there is one thing she hasn’t touched. She’s meant to die meant to die and soon.

Amen man! She should've died after season 5! That's pretty much where the whole series went to the tubes anyways... but I agree, her character is more than irrelevant now.

Why isn't Chloe in the comics? Well let's see Smallville arrived in 2001, by then we had nearly 65 years of DC comics without Chloe all these characters formed and teams aligned without her in the comics, so why retcon and interject her? She's a good character, I guess, but with DC remaking itself with Crisis on Infinite Earths in '86 and the more recent Infinite Crisis, do we really need to muddy the waters further with more revisions and restarts to continuity? I think not. Sorry Chloe, TV's all you get.

As for Smallville, enough with the no caps no tights, the guy is 30 for God's sake, you're making a show about Superman whether you like it or not and the guy is not going to be very cool as a middle aged guy finally deciding to put on tights. Piss or get off the pot and embrace the show for what it is. The “Matrix Superman look” is freaking ridiculous.

Good article (thought you should press the "Intro" or "Enter" key from time to time lol!).

Yeah Smallville = 0.0% DC Comics Continuity.

Do any of you realize that DC Comics doesn't even keep all the continuity straight? And that DC Comics doesn't even own all the rights to Superman? Judging from all these stupid comments about the show sucking and how much you hate Chloe, I'm gonna take that as a no. You should really know what you are talking about before you start shooting crap.

There are so many different reincarnations of Superman and the Superman universe. I hope you all hate the new Batman movies cuz they sure as heck don't follow "DC's universe" as you like to call it.

Superhero stories are told different ways for a reason, to appeal to newer generations. Superman's powers didn't even come from the sun originally. So i guess every comic that goes against that is wrong? No, things change. None of the comics even flow perfectly together. It has nothing to do with TV or movies messing it up.

Smallville is just telling their own Superman origin story and they've done a heck of a good job. If you hate Smallville, you must hate almost every comic too cuz if you didn't, your logic is even more crazy than it already seems.

Maybe you just don't like Smallville's incarnation. Very well. That's fine. But really people, stop saying stupid stuff. smallville follows Superman continuity just as well as any comic.

i think allison mack does as great a job as possible with chloe, but the writers seem to have gotten away from who she is and what she's all about. she used to keep clark grounded, a best friend who helped him hone in on his humanity. now she's lost her humanity on the show. but alas, i should disclose that i have only seen 1 episode this season. is lex back yet? why has he been gone so long?

DC Had intended to go back and start Superman from his childhood and have chloe appear... In the Comics Lana and Lois are cousins NOT some TV Created character that never exsists in DC Comics. Honestly Johantan Taylor Thomas should have tossed her off the Dam or Bridge way back I think she'd have made a real neat splat.. The show has deranged Supermans true origin in which Pete Ross was a white kid who married Lana and became Vice President when Lex becomes President. Honestly I would like to see a Purly Green Arrow show I think that Potental as opposed to Smallville.. Honestly I could settle for seeing Kristen Kruek back

Honestly whether you like her or not she is one of the most important parts of the show. A character that was almost completely inessential has become the background of everything that is Smallville. I've grown to like her even love her for what she's done but her fate is written in the stars and she must go. The only question now is how they'll do it? It's the biggest mystery on television today. They can't just kill her because everyone will still have memories, I suppose they could use magic of some sort to where she wouldn't exist but clark wouldn't be the man he is today and everything EVERYTHING would be different about the last 9 going on ten years. This is a serious matter and how ever they do it they better not screw up. What could make people forget her? And if not forgotten what could make no one not even her cousin mention her name again. No one!! I'll have my eyes glued to the tube waiting to see how she ends even more than to see how Clark flies, or his costume change or how Oliver,Cyborg, or Canary won't be part of the original JLA. The Legion said there is no history of her. How will they pull it off. Sorry for the rant but it's important to true fans like me.

Oliver,Cyborg, or Canary don't have to not be in the original JLA. This is a different Superman universe. There's a thing called the Multiverse. There are so many different versions of the JLA. In one, the Flash dies. In another, Supergirl dies. They are completely separate universes. That's what all these people don't understand. Smallville can't screw up Superman continuity because it is it's own continuity. There are comics that don't even follow with each other. You may not like this universe but there's nothing wrong with it. It is just a different take on the character much like The Dark Knight is on Batman.

It is really awful that people can sit there and bash a show like Smallville, which has done an amazing job showing the hard journey to becoming Superman, and still call themselves fans of Superman. Superman is a symbol. A symbol of hope. He longs to be human but he never can be. And that makes him fight all the harder to protect the human race. And Smallville has shown that in the best way it has ever been presented in ANY media. Smallville has truly tapped in to the Superman character.

So what if you don't like Chloe. There are plenty of other Superman universes you can like. You can't sit there and say you agree with every other universe other than Smallville's. You just can't. They are just as contradictory universes as any other.

The character remains the same, not their surroundings. And that's what people need to realize.

@Estaz Oliver,Cyborg, or Canary don't have to not be in the original JLA. This is a different Superman universe. There's a thing called the Multiverse. Estaz I agree with you completely mostly for the fact that i like all these characters and really want to see more of them. Smallville is probably the only venue where you will be able to see these characters in live action for years and years to come. Hopefully with Geoff Johns godfathering DC projects so to speak we can look forward to more. Where else have we ever had the chance to see hawkman, Green Arrow, Black Canary, Cyborg, JLA,JSA,martain manhunter, amanda waller, and soon maxwell lord. If you don't like at least respect it for what it's doing. I love it, and i hope that when Smallville ends a spin-off begins, we need a show like this. I only wish Marvel would do the same for Xmen first class. Bring it to the small screen so we can see different mutanats all the time. I want to see the less knowns, and I want to see hank before the fur, i wanna see iceman learn to control his ice form and ice slide all in live action. But I'm a dreamer, I'll just keep dreaming till my dreams come true.

I love smalleville but Chloe is gettting sort of annoying she is always holding Clark back so she must die. Plus I want Lex to return and Batman to have a cameo or at least pre Batman Bruce Wayne.

Also Tess needs to die she is the most annoying character on the show I with Clark wasn't stopped right before he was aabout to disinagrate her that would have been awesome to see Tess Being turned to ash it makes me laugh just thinking about it.

That isn't true at all. I don't agree with all the directing but the acting is definitely not bad. There are plenty of other shows with WAY worse acting. ie. Supernatural, Lost, Glee, Gossip Girl, I could go on.

I think Tom's acting is spot on! He's not supposed to be human after all. He plays Clark understated just as Clark should be.
As for Chloe, I've loved her from the get-go. I know she's not 'in' the comics. But she's in the hearts and minds of all 'real' Smallville fans. She's shared just as much air time as Clark, like it or not. People have grown up with her and forevermore, she's here to stay..if not just in DVD memory. I also believe that she'll be the catalyst to Clark flying.
slsmile10
slsmile10 - 7/21/2010, 3:32 PM
Whoever thinks that Chloe will be a catalyst to Clark flying is either delusional or overstates her value. Chloe's perhaps the worst impediment to Clark since S5. Since the writers need to give her something to do, they let her play at being Clark's brain for S5-S7. This last season, especially, has been bliss since Clark cut the apron ties and has been doing things himself. Since AM's no longer a series regular in S10, all I can say is it's long overdue. I don't want her dead. I just want her gone and forgotten.

I'm a fan of Smallville. And Chloe's presence have been a wonderful addition. Really, I wouldn't want to see Smallville as an exact copy of the comics. I respect the variation they put into the show. I reallly hope they put Chloe back.......and Lana back....and Lex back! :P
