This movie is bad. How could they mess up a Superman movie this badly? It's borderline comedy. I'm half expecting Snyder to just come out and say "We were joking, the real Superman movie is here." But no, this is the final product. This is the movie many are giving 10 out of 10s. And for what? A stupid and ugly film with no value of worth.

Let's start with the characters shall we. All of them are bland. All of them. First off, Cavill. I liked him. He seems to be doing the best of what the poor script will give him. He's tall, handsome, has a good voice and could have made a great Superman. Too bad he wasn't given one. I don't mind a movie that shows the darker side of being Superman, but at the end of the day, I want to be uplifted by his presence. Compare him to Reeve, who swoops us off our feet just as easily as he does to Lois the moment they meet. He shines charisma. Cavill on the other hand just mopes throughout the entire movie, punches things and...I think that's about it.

Lois Lane played by Adams. Starts off well enough with her being tough, wily, etc. But unfortunately her role goes downhill the moment Zod and his buddies arrive. Why did Zod want her on his ship? Was it just for exposition? Screenwriting 101 guys, characters' actions should make sense. Then towards the end, the military have her on the plane or something. What is she doing there? She's a reporter, not a military adviser. It's like they wrote the story and then someone said "Oh, you forgot to put Lois Lane in." So the screeenwriter just put her into a bunch of scenes without it making any sense. She even has the power of teleportation as shown at the end where she appears just to be the shoulder that Superman cries on when he kills Zod. The rest of the characters, aren't worth mentioning because I forget them already, except for Zod. Zod is angry...NEXT!

Speaking of stuff that doesn't make sense, Zod said he killed Jor-El because he felt it was necessary. But this is bullcrap since he killed Jor-El AFTER the baby escape pod flies away. Yeah, who made this guy a general? Why is everyone who isn't a main supporting character, a bully character for Clark? It's ridiculous how many times they feel the need to pound this crap in. Some bully even pulls Clark out of a car (which being Superman, I'm amazed how he did that) just to start a fight with him. Why? Bullies pick on people for a reason right. And last time I checked, if I pour a beverage over the staff's head at a restaurant, I'd get kicked out. Why does this trucker have the authority to do so? Does he own the restaurant? And I know what you're saying, what about the bully trucker in Superman II? Well that movie is more fantasy, so you're not really supposed to question why this guy who's always picking on everyone at the restaurant, even the staff is allowed to stay. But in this film, everything is super realistic and it just doesn't work.

And don't even get me started with how dumb Pa Kent's death was. Talk about not getting it. In the original film, his death is done in such a heart wrenching manner. The point of it being, with all Superman's powers, he still couldn't stop something natural like a heart attack. But here, there's no excuse. It was borderline parody how silly it was. I would have laughed if I wasn't so shocked about how bad the movie was.

Why is everything in this movie super realistic. Superman is an alien with God-like powers who flies around in a cape and tights. You don't try and make that realistic, because then it becomes silly. The cinematography reflects this and it's some of the worst I've ever seen. Shaky cam is terrible. I hate it with a passion. And not only do we have shaky cam where we can't tell what's happening during the boring action but also everything is super PALE. Why is everything either white or blue? EVERYTHING. This is the whitest and coldest movie I've ever seen. It's like they found the film in a block of ice. Even when they're in the desert everything is cold. Where's the COLOUR?!

And finally, the action. Oh boy, could they have made this any more boring? If you enjoy CG explosions and people punching things for 2 hours, then this movie is for you. And this is coming from someone who's favourite movie is Die Hard. News flash guys, action only works in two ways. It can be either tension filled, where we cheer on our vulnerable hero and hope he survives and saves the day. Or is can be done in a way that attempts to impress and entertain you through effects, choreography and stunts. Man of Steel is obviously going for the latter, but the problem is, that kind of action only works in small proportion. Take the original Matrix (another one of my favourite movies). Everyone remembers the amazing 'bullet-time' action scenes. But when you watch the movie, the action only makes up a small portion of the film. The limited amount of action, made the action scenes all the more exciting. It's one of the reasons why Matrix Reloaded didn't work for me, because it had too much action. Man of Steel has the same problem. How many times do we have to see someone being punched in the face? It's ridiculous how violent this movie is. Isn't Superman for family audience? Well not anymore. Step up comic book nerds, here's a movie that's so dark and moody that no one is going to call you a loser for watching it.
Bad story, bad music, very bad CGI and BOOORING ACTION SCENES.

Ya know, I don't like Superman. Never have. Just can't get into the character. I haven't watched this movie yet either. Are you a Superman fan? Are you just unhappy with the way they portrayed your favorite character? Or could you care less about him? Cause I think you have a problem Bub. You need help, your obsessed with trashing this movie. Freedom of speech, I get it. Not trying to take it away from you, but I HAVE avoided talking to you in every single article( some that don't even have anything to do with Man of Steel) you show up and do everything you can to let everyone know that Man of Steel is garbage. We all KNOW how you feel! We don't CARE!!! Go away and let us enjoy what we want to. Ya know what, because of your constant complaining and whining, I'm gonna go buy a damn ticket to see this movie! How do you like that? Because of your attacks on a movie, I wanna know what all the fuss is about. So now, because of you, Man of Steel is gonna get money from me, my family and my friends. Way to go douchebag.

I would probably say Iron Man 3 was my least favorite CBM of the year. It wasn't a bad movie but it was extremely disappointing and could have been much better. Man of Steel is by far the best and is the best movie I have seen this year. The action and special effects were enough but I loved all the characters. This is how Superman should be.

I'm not gonna lie; MOS was a disappointing movie, not as bad as you describe it Freedom(Oh hell no), but still. My opinion, well with this movie I pretty much agree with this video:

Well if that's the case...

Knew the editorial was sh*t from the title. At least give us proper sentence structure and include the word "the" before worst. If you honestly think this is the worst CBM ever made, you seriously need to reevaluate yourself.

You CLEARLY do not have the intelligence to enjoy this movie. I, along with many others, believe that this movie was very heartwarming, intense, and deep. This movie expects you to be smart enough to understand all the complex themes. Obviously, you don't.

My big problem with MOS was that it just wasn't any fun.

I'm a huge Superman freak, I'll watch anything Superman related but I just have no interest in seeing MOS again after seeing it a few times.

MOS had 10x the action that Superman Returns had and none of it was as memorable as the plane save scene.

And I never thought I'd stick up for Returns, but now it actually seems like a much better movie than it was before MOS came out.

Well Mr. Freedomfreelife, I couldn't agree with you more. Man of Steel sucked big time for all of the reasons you mentioned! Thank god! I thought I was the only one who hated the new Superman. The only thing and I mean the only thing I liked about the whole movie was the way they redesigned Supermans costume and the fact that Cavil looked the part. Other than that this movie was aweful. I don't think one actor actually threw a punch durring one action scene. All the fight scenes were CGI and it was bad CGI. With all the over usage of CGI Snyder should've made this movie an animated feature instead. Hell even all of the flying scenes with Superman were CGI. This movie was bland, dull and completely off the mark as to what Superman is suppose to stand for. Bad film!

I haven't seen Man of Steel yet but there is no way on heaven or earth, or even Dormammu's Dimension that Man of Steel is worse than Batman and Robin.

naterator - 7/31/2013, 2:32 PM
dont forget ELECTRA, Heck ....Supergirl was a better film than several other films.....However MOS was by far only a stepping stone to a better franchise. It had its flaws but you cant tell me that it is or ever should be considered the worst CBM ever....or even in 2013.

Well, there's 2 & a half minutes of my life that I'll never get back. I really need to stop reading this junk, but I'm to the point now that the law of averages dictates that eventually someone will write something worth reading. Not this time though.

Ha bad music, bad CGI and boring action scenes???!!! Yea right, if this had boring action scenes then Iron Man 3 was GOD AWFUL to you, right?? And the CG was pretty great, you can't say the World Engine scenes were bad because it was pretty cool. You couldn't notice the shaky cam at all. MAN OF STEEL was EPIC the best CBM so far this year, Wolverine was ok and IM3 sucked Tony wasn't in the suit basically the whole movie!! Your just a Marvel Fanboy!!
Archangel82
Archangel82 - 7/31/2013, 2:46 PM
I don't think it's worse comicbook movie but it wasn't great by any means nor was it a real Superman movie. Batman and Robin Catwomen and Electra aren't even watchable they take that prize. I said what I said because I love the Superman character and I felt that Synder didn't do the character or movie justice. I still think the CGI was bad. MOS was huge let down. Freedomforlife had valid points on the many problems this film had. You don't have to agree but everyone is intitled to their opinion.

The title.....probably could've been changed...still could have criticized it, but people wouldn't go in to it thinking "sniff, sniff.....i smell flames a'brewin"

I thought MoS was good. Right now no CBM has bowled me over , so I don't have a distinct favorite. But i thought it was good.

All the people who hate MOS hated it before they saw it, because they had an idea in their head of what Superman is, him being some boy scout in tights getting kittens out of a tree, or something like that, they thought that was Superman, just before they walked in the theater, and then it hit them, "This is a different Superman" and they immediately despised it.
