Possible New Info For TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES Reboot; Krang To Be The Villain?

Some potential new details for Jonathan Liebesman's upcoming TMNT reboot have found their way online. Among them are more info on the Turtles being a part of an alien race and a villain in the movie.

The past few days have seen the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' return to the big screen all over the news. After being slated for a Christmas 2013 release last week, producer Michael Bay recently stated that the reboot (which will be directed by Battle LA's Jonathan Liebesman) will have a new origin for the turtles, saying that they're "from an alien race". Of course, the die hard TMNT fans did not like the sound of that. Now, some more details for the movie have apparently showed up.

Sources have told First Showing that the turtles are a part of "An entire race of inter-dimensional beings". Concerning a possible villain, the site has heard that the inter-dimensional storyline is happening because Krang will be a villain in the film, which would mark the first time the character has appeared on the big screen (and maybe along with that huge body suit and the Technodrome?).

Not sure what to think of the movie so far. I have been excited about seeing a new live action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film for a long time, but what we've heard so far (from Michael Bay producing to the Turtles being aliens) has been very hit and miss. Still, what do you think of the reboot so far?

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles return to theaters December 25th, 2013.

Still dont get it. :/

Why not just make Krang loose his experimental Ooze mutagen which turns Turtles and Splinter into humanoid beings?

Why is that so hard?

"Sources have told us that our turtles are actually four of an entire race of inter-dimensional beings."

Sooo basically the Turtles are the aliens from Indy 4?

if they make it right maybe someone in DC won't be afraid of using the brain as a villain in a future movie

What the hell?! Since when have the turtles been aliens?
I hope they don't make this happen; Krang would be cool to see in a movie, but I feel Shredder would be even better.

I agree with keeping the origin the same, but it may make it easier to get the whole interdimensional transport into the story. Get some Osaki mujimbo or whatever his name is in there.

Dammit just take from the source material, the ORIGINAL SOURCE MATERIAL. The turtles have been around for over 25 years and THEY ARE STILL GOING STRONG. Its pretty obvious that there story is good enough as is. I was really pumped for a new live action movie, but if this is really what there doing they can shove my 8 bucks right up there ass. I hope Bay gets caught in one of his rediculous explosions for this.

WHY IN THE F*%# WOULD THERE BE ALIEN RACES THAT LOOK LIKE ANIMALS FROM EARTH. ALIENS SHOULDNT LOOK LIKE ANYTHING FROM EARTH, HENCE THE WORD "ALIEN". BAY YOUR JACKASS!

Wow, people really do sound like 5 year olds when reacting to this whole "Turtles are Aliens" thing. People need to calm the [frick] down for real. I'm a Turtles fan myself and I could deal with this change, even if it is far from their roots.

"the turtles are a part of "An entire race of inter-dimensional beings". " Meaning they won't be the ONLY turtles, basically saying there may not be anything special about these guys because theirs a whole damn planet with 6 foot tall turtles on it. [frick] YOU MICHAEL BAY!!!!

I've been wanting to see Krang on the big screen for the longest, but I'm not sure how I feel about this movie anymore since apparently Michael Dumba$$ Bay is producing this, and for some reason someone thought it was a good idea and make the turtles aliens -___- I don't usually like to judge anything before hand, but I'm just not sure about this anymore.

Maybe it's ooze from "An entire race of inter-dimensional beings" that gets all over some earth turtles somehow? I don't know folks! I rather not see such dramatic changes to what we have grown up with all these years. But you know, I bet as long as Eastman & Laird are getting paid enough they won't mind the changes too much.

Teenage MUTANT Ninja Turtles, not Teenage ALIEN Ninja Turtles. Michael Bay is the biggest retard in Hollywood, [frick]ing stupid cocksucking shit bag crap munching [frick]ing [foo foo] wanker.

Sorry. Now for a more intellectual arguement: The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles need to be TURTLES, who have been MUTATED into being human sized, and are trained as NINJAS by fellow MUTATED animal Splinter, a rat, who raises them as his own until they are TEENAGED, at which point they begin their adventures under Splinter's watchful eye. A reboot could have so much potential, I'd love to see a darker, more violent take on the turtles, with the right balance of humour and seriousness, and a villain who isn't Splinter for a change, at least not in this first installment of what will obviously become a franchise.

The fundamental dynamic is that the turtles are brothers, and are the only ones of their kind. They identify with Splinter and look up to him like a father, because he's in a similar situation, because he was an animal who mutated like them (I prefer the origin where he is the pet of Hamato Yoshi, rather than Hamato Yoshi himself. His knowledge of renaissance art, providing the turtles' names, could be due to his former owner's love of renaissance art, and Hamato Yoshi could've been something of an odd, reclusive and eccentric ninja master who treated Splinter the rat as if he was intelligent anyway)
If the mutant dynamic is lost, the relationship with Splinter also fails, instantly resulting in a major, and unforgivable, deviation from the canon.

I'd also like to see the varying levels of the father/sons and teacher/students dynamic explored, with Donatello being the intellectual who is keen to learn anything he can, Leonardo as the naturally skillful leader, Raphael as the hotheaded loner, Michelangelo as the class goofball, and Splinter as the patient, caring yet strict teacher/father.

I want to see the Turtles struggle to find their place in society, as mutated members of their species changed through science, and I want to see how they fight against evil and learn what it is to discover their humanity.

Of course, we'll never get any of that with Michael Bay involved in any capacity. Instead, it'll be aliens appear through a dimensional portal, people are scared of them except a boy and a girl who like each other and get together in the end. The turtles will learn ninja skills and human (specifically stereotypical New York teenager) culture, acquiring a taste for pizza when said boy and girl order one. They'll call themselves ninjas due to learning the skills over the internet, but will never actually use these skills, instead fighting a villain who will appear in every film in the series that will die in progressively bigger explosions in each film. They'll decide to stay on Earth as Earth's protectors, and await more members of the species' arrival. Intersperse all of that with borderline racist humour and no coherent story-line

It'll basically be a cross between all the Transformers films, the recent Smurfs film, and recycled Two and a Half Men humour

Wow, I was hoping Michael Bay saying the turtles were aliens was misinterpreted or something.

This reboot isn't getting off to a good start. Why can't they just stick with source material?

I'm not sure about Krang being the first villain either.

You know if this Turtles being from an alien race thing does take off in a big way we might not be that far away from a Marvel version of Howard the Duck on screen again!

If the ooze, the mutagen that affected the turtles and splinter, was an interdimentional biproduct of Krang entering the turtles' dimension, then I could accept that, if the turtles and splinter were Earth born. But that's the only difference that can be made and still work, changing any more would ruin the idea of TMNT.

It's not like many other comic book properties where origins or members of a team can be tweaked in movies with relatively little effect. But the TMNT are just four characters, and you can't change that. Same with the Fantastic 4 really.
