TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES Live-Action Series Rumored To Be In The Works For CBS All Access

After starring in two mildly received movies, it sounds like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will return to live-action for a series which will adapt a famous comic book storyline on CBS All Access...

The two live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies (which were produced by Michael Bay and starred Megan Fox) received something of a mixed response from fans, with everything from their origin story to the way they were portrayed on screen proving to be a real sticking point.

Now, though, it sounds like a live-action reboot is in the works for the CBS All Access streaming service.

According to The Cinema Spot, the plan is for the series to adapt "The Last Ronin," the upcoming five-issue miniseries which is being released later this year by IDW Publishing. Based on the synopsis, it definitely sounds like this is going to be a very different take on the characters.

"In a future New York City far different from the one we know today, a lone surviving Turtle goes on a seemingly hopeless mission to obtain justice for his fallen family and friends."

This TV series is expected to act as a collaboration between CBS, Paramount, Nickelodeon and other ViacomCBS-owned companies, so it's clearly an adaptation that is being taken seriously. Until we get to read "The Last Ronin," we don't really know what to expect, but it's an intriguing premise, and definitely one that should provide a dark new take on these characters (well, one of them).

What do you guys think?

Wait...what??

Are they going to be using a mocap suit or practical effects suit?

@WruceBayne - I’ve been waiting for the return for the practical suits for years but only if it’s taken seriously. Like TMNT first movie serious with weapon use. I’m digging this idea if it’s for a few episodes based on a direct comic adaption. I’d just hate it to keep going, lost quality and possibly lose the chance to have another live action movie with the suits.

Viacom is investing so heavily into CBS All Access now, between them making the new Spongebob film an exclusive for that platform & this, that it's weird they still hand out so many of their films & tv shows to Netflix. Like, the live-action Last Airbender show is still being set up over there.
That said, All Access has had a pretty bad track record with their original shows so far. Picard was pretty bad and Twilight Zone straight up sucked.

Love the TMNT so I’ll give it a shot. I really like the concept of the story. Something tells me they can get away with practical effects here with a suit.

@DutchCipher - TMNT 2007 is still my favorite iteration of the Ninja Turtles... Period.

@KWilly - mine too! One of the few movies in existence that I can always put on if I don’t know what to put on. I really wish we could get a sequel to THAT movie.

CBS? This Show needs Netflix and Felicity Jones playing April O'neil

@Repian - Netflix doing Ninja Turtles after Daredevil would be pretty funny, since it started life as a parody of that comic

Nothing...NOTHING is a better version of these characters than TMNT/TMNT 2: Secret of the ooze. Redoing TMNT is as ridiculous as rewriting the Bible.

@Thing94 - Pass. Still not enough to get me to subscribe. I refuse to pay for CBS all Access, not enough content and too many streaming services.

This sounds like a Ninja Turtle show, instead of a Ninja Turtle(s) show. Don't know how I feel about this. I wonder if that reboot movie is still in development?

Stop making the turtles live action, just make them animated. Seriously, if they made a ninja turtles movie with the care they made spiderverse, it would be a bit

So like, "The last Turtle?"? Sounds good. Keep Michael Bay away from this. I love the turtles so I'll give it a shot

Well can pretty much say this is a BS story. Following the source to a website that has no history of proven stories and tbh it's be a bloody expensive series.
Sorry guys. Reboot film is still in development at paramount atm
