In April 2015, The Lego Movie directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller penned a script for a live-action Flash movie starring Ezra Miller. WB wanted the duo to direct as well but they opted instead to helm a Han Solo prequel for Lucasfilms (wonder if they regret that choice in hindsight?).
Seth Grahame-Smith quickly boarded the project in October 2015 but dropped out due to creative differences in April 2016. Dope director Rick Famuyiwa was then hired in June 2016 but he too dropped out in October 2016, citing creative differences. However, he did manaage to cast his former leading lady, Kiersey Clemons as Iris West before departing.
While promoting her co-starring turn in director Marc Webb’s The Only Living Boy in New York , Collider briefly spoke with Clemons about the status of Flashpoint. "That’s a step in a direction! Don’t ask me any questions. I don’t know what’s happening, alright," said Clemons on her surprise at the SDCC announcement.
A follow up question led her to reveal that she only discovered about the decision to adapt Flashpoint right before the DCEU portion of WB's panel. “Yeah, well, I kind of like, right before [the SDCC panel] I knew and then it happened, but yeah, Flashpoint! Which means our script is probably done. That’s thrilling."
If a script is finished, it's clear that Kiersey hasn't read it. Speculative minds are already wondering what the original intention for the film was before the team of Geoff Johns and Jon Berg appear to have changed course.
