We already know from past interviews that Anthony Hopkins didn't look at a single comic book in preparation for his role as the Lord of Asgard, Odin, in the upcoming Marvel Studios movie. However, he has recently revealed that this isn't actually his first time delving into comic books as it turns out that he was once something of a fan of the genre!
"When I was a kid, in the postwar years, I used to read Captain Marvel, which was sent to me by an ex-GI, an American soldier," Hopkins recalls. "And I used to read Superman - I knew all that stuff - and I guess Thor is the same genre, is it? But I haven't kept up with comics. I know it's a whole cult, all over the world, Asia and Japan, so I'm thrilled to be in it."
Ah well, good to know he's been a fan (well, sort of!) at some point anyway! While I always think it's nice to know that an actor has taken at least a quick look at the comic books before portraying one of the characters on the big or small screen, I have no doubt that Hopkins will still deliver one hell of an amazing performance! What do you guys think?
Directed by Kenneth Branagh and also starring Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston and Natalie Portman,
Thor is set to be released in 3D on April 29 in the UK and May 6 in the US!
