Battle for Asgard! Battle for Earth! Thor Odinson was about to become the king of Asgard...until the fearsome Frost Giants attacked. Seeking revenge, Thor and his companions journeyed into the frozen land of Jotunheim, which almost led to a brutal war between the realms. In order to teach his son a lesson, Odin Allfather stripped Thor of his power, took away his mighty hammer, and banished him to the realm of Midgard, also known as Earth. But all is not well. There is a traitor in Asgard, and Thor is trapped on Earth with no way to return home. Only Thor's faithful friends-the Lady Sif and the Warriors Three-can hope to save him and restore peace and order to Asgard. But who will save them...?

A Fallen Hero Must Find Himself... After his arrogance and irresponsible behavior ignite an ancient war, the mighty Thor is banished from his home, Asgard, by his father King Odin. Stripped of his powers, and without his mighty hammer, Mjolnir, the mighty warrior is forced to live on Earth among humans. But powerful forces are at work to ensure that Thor's punishment lasts forever and that he never returns to the realm of Asgard...even if it means sending an unstoppable weapon to Earth to destroy him and his newfound friends. Caught between two worlds, which home will the mighty Thor fight to save-Asgard or Earth? Or will he just fight to save himself?

A Chilling Evil Invades Asgard... Thor is about to be made king of Asgard by Odin Allfather, and the entire realm has come out to celebrate. Yet deep below the Throne Room, an ancient evil awaits. Its sights are set on a weapon so powerful that it could destroy all Nine Realms of the cosmos. Asgard's only hope is the mighty Thor-but can he survive against the frightening Frost Giants?

The Truce Is Broken! The mighty Thor was set to become king of Asgard until the evil Frost Giants attacked. Now, Thor and his faithful companions-Loki, Lady Sif, and the Warriors Three-will journey to the frozen realm of Jotunheim to confront these monsters once and for all. But will Thor get the revenge he seeks, or will the fearsome Frost Giants destroy them all?

Meet the mighty Thor! Warriors, gods, giants, and tricksters all live within the magical Nine Realms of the cosmos. Some are mighty heroes, while others are menacing villains. And now the people of Midgard-also known as Earth-can learn who is a helpful friend...and who is a frightening foe! Ride alongside the fabled Warriors Three and beware the icy grip of the Frost Giants!

Cast Your Eyes to the Sky... Beyond the stars and planets of the Milky Way exists a magical realm where mighty warriors fight with powers beyond imagination-and where evil lurks in every shadow. This is Asgard, home to the mighty Thor and peaceful Asgardians. Enter Heimdall's Observatory and journey, as Thor did, across the fabled Rainbow Bridge and into the land of Midgard, better known as planet Earth.

Easy...Marvel movies' junior novels stray much from the movie!

I remember trying to read the Iron Man 2 JN and being damn confused after seeing how it was different lol.

The pic of thor and the destroyer is sweet, although they should of had Thor's color of his hammer with a blue aura around it instead of his red cape.

i was seriously disappointed when i discovered that Marvel would not be publishing an actual novelization written by an author that we all know and love.

Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk were penned by Peter David and Iron Man 2 by Alexander Irvine. Marvel has been pretty good about making novelizations. i was really hoping that i would be able to complete the set.
alas, appaerently that is not to be.

i guess Disney just doesn't consider movie tie ins a profitable pursuit.
pity.

Wadey: question for ya, where the novels much like the movies? or did they go into things more than the movies did?

@Wadey: Usually novelizations (well the normal novels at least) are based on earlier drafts of the script, but with the same basic story. There are usually scenes that do not make it into the final draft or scenes that are changed in the final cut.

But the Thor junior novel basically goes like this *spoilers*:
Starts off with Thor getting ready to be crowned king, but during the ceremony, Frost Giants invade. Once they are defeated, Thor is mad. He wants to get revenge on them, but Odin says no (because of the truce). Thor (along with Loki, the Warriors 3, and Sif) go to Jotunheim (by using the Bifrost, which is sort of like a gateway to other the 9 other realms). They arrive and are thrust into battle with the Frost Giants. They are soon outnumbered, but Odin comes to the rescue. Later, he is mad at Thor for ending the treaty and bringing war to this realm. He banishes Thor to Midgard (earth) and throws Mjolnir after him. They both land on Earth and Jane finds him. She and her coworkers (Darcy and Selvig) take him to the hospital and leave him there. They later come back and find he is gone. They find him a little later and he goes with them. During all this, he hints at where he comes from and who he is. He is also really cocky/arrogant. Finally, they overhear about a "satellite" that crashed to Earth. Thor and Jane go to where it is and he says the whole "I'll fly out" thing. He goes in there and tries to get Mjolnir, but to no avail. It doesn't go into the SHIELD scene or with Coulson and Hawkeye. Later, he goes to Jane's campsite (she was waiting for him to come back) a different man (he escaped from SHIELD and was stunned that he wasn't worthy to pick up Mjolnir). He goes more into who he is and where he came from (Selvig recognizes it from stories he heard in Scandinavia). Finally, the Warriors 3 return to Earth in order to bring Thor home (it doesn't go into Loki becoming king or all the stuff in Asgard). They fight the Destroyer (doesn't go into that scene either) and win. The epilogue is them returning to Asgard and it doesn't even talk about Loki's betrayal, etc. It is a VERY VERY VERY watered down version of the movie. The junior novel cuts out SOOOOO much.

@ThreeBigTacos
the novelizations are based off an earlier draft but usually stays close to the film. but like cheetohman said, they contain deleted scenes that are not present in the films.
the novelizations i speak of are not of the Junior variety and are very in depth. they go into characters' backgrounds a LOT more and have logical character developments that sometimes dont make sense on film.
it is for this very reason that i adore movie novelizations and i am hoping that this is the only year that no major novels come out. if it not to be, then i will become very depressed.
