Marvel Props At Disneyland Tease Some MAJOR New Additions To The MCU

Disney has a number of Marvel Cinematic Universe themed props on display in Disneyland, but there are a couple which point to the debut of two huge characters in this world in the very near future...

Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: Breakout is launching at Disneyland's resort in California and IGN has spotted some props on display which appear to tease big changes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. When you line up for the ride, you're led to believe that you're viewing some of The Collector's collection and among the props on display are an Ultron drone and Nova Corps uniform.

However, there are some which are even more noteworthy. First up is an "Asgardian War Hammer" which is the spitting image of the one belonging to Beta Ray Bill. The description says it "Originated in the dwarves forge on Nidavellir, this finely crafted object is made of the powerful stone, Uru." That confirms that it's Stormbreaker, the weapon which has been wielded by the fan-favourite hero.

Next up are some "Mysterious Artifacts" which "were found at the bottom of the Terran ocean. Very little is known of the civilization the created them." That's a pretty obvious nod to Namor, the Sub-Mariner and his home of Atlantis. Could it be that these two will show up in Avengers: Infinity War

That remains to be seen, but there's no denying that this is very interesting. What do you think?

Do the "Mysterious Artifacts" hint at Namor?

@MexicanCipher -

If Namor is entering this franchise he has to be introduced before Avengers 4. It'd be insane to have Thanos threatening all of reality and causing major damage on a massive scale to Earth and not have an inhabitant of Earth's seas come to the defence.

It's just James Gunn giving some fun easter eggs to the Marvel comics fans.

@kong -

Some guy asked:

@JamesGunn were you involved in the process of making the GOTG ride at California Adventure?

James Gunn ✔ @JamesGunn
Yes, very much so. And it is an absolute blast.

@RagnarGolem - oh, so it's just meaningless Easter eggs.

Man.. I'm starting to really dislike James gunn.

@ALostCause - It's just a Disney ride, man (The new Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout). Don't put too much into it. It's not a movie.

@RagnarGolem - well, James gunn has done more than that, he made a few movies too!

It's insane how fast the gotg movies shot down to the bottom of my list for best cbms. His movies are Easter eggs, unpleasant characterization choices that would make Snyder smile, and childish humor.

That comment above was kind of like "oooh of course it's just James gunn putting random shit in cases with no intention of using them any time soon."

Oh and FOR SOME REASON, let's play 80s music! It sounds nice, but it doesn't fit, and I don't care. I'm James [frick]ing gunn!

@ALostCause -

The first 'Guardians of the Galaxy' is my favorite CBM of ALL time.
I love the Vol 2 so much too.
I love all the characters.
Both the soundtracks are a big integral part of the story, and are beloved playlists to me.

You're really talking with the wrong guy here, buddy.

It's a [frick]ing Disney ride, but if you wanna use it as "one more reason to increase the nonsense hate that I feel for James Gunn", go ahead (I think it's a part of this internet thing, suddenly love and then deep hate)! I hope it makes you feel better. ;)

@ALostCause - Do the Monopoly 'GOTG' boardgame, lunch boxes and pajamas take place in a distinct universe? Are they MCU canon? Or does this ride mark the beginning of an interconnected Marvel merch-o-verse?

The idea that anyone would care about continuity between the films and the ride makes me want to plan an elaborate crossover event between the beer universe and my mouth.

@ALostCause - dude they're movies based on a comic book about a raccoon, a talking tree, and a guy named Star Lord. It's childish stuff. If you're a grown man or woman that's into that, that's cool, but he took something obscure and silly and made it a massively popular, fun, silly, ridiculously enjoyable couple of movies. If you want a Drax that's a humourless badass, go watch 300. If you want adult, mature humour, go watch something that's not based on a team of superhero aliens.

@RagnarGolem - oh trust me, I know what it's like to love gotg. It was just my recent rewatch of it right before the movie, where I thought it was just so vanilla, and it led to a bad viewing exprience towards the second. That was more of internet venting rather than actually trying to discuss the quality of the movies with you lol. They are good movies, just frustrating.

@ALostCause - it's 60s and 70s music. And it's generally accepted as one of the most well done and successful parts of the movies. Huge sales, made old songs massively popular again, perfectly fits the retro futurism vibe of the films. In fact I don't think I could name a film that has a soundtrack that fits the film as well as Guardians of the Galaxy, both volumes.

@connorblaze - Well, this hate stems from how much I like the DnA run on marvel cosmic, so those points aren't really gonna hit with me.

if I wanted a humorless badass drax, i would read the comic. apparently you didn't know because of the movies, but that's who drax is, a badass that very rarely jokes around. Their comic counterparts are NOT that silly (besides maybe rocket). sure, they get a little goofy from time to time, but the characters keep their cool and don't devolve into childish gags.

maybe recent comics have changed that, maybe they started to dumb down the characters after DnA worked on them, I've never read anything post-2010. But the original incarnation of THIS version of the guardians was nothing like this. Star Lord would kick chris pratt's ass.

that's all other people's opinions of the music, other people's opinions don't influence mine. I don't think the music fits.

let's step back a minute, I like the gotg movies. I just find them very generic and think there are a lot of things they could change to make it a more entertaining movie.

@ALostCause - First GOTG I would disgree a bit. Great film, definitely had opportunity for improvements, but solid all around.

Second film, too many missed chances to be better. Fun and solid all around, but music wasn't as nice a fit, played up a bit more, and story could have been handled a bit better.

Like them both, would recommend, still fun films! (Second has some amazing moments that first did not match. Yondu parts, some baby groot scenes, most of Rocket's scenes.)
