PenToReality Breaks Down The THOR: The Dark World Teaser Trailer

After watching this first teaser most of the day, I have come up with 5 points that stood out from the trailer and with some theories of my own.

1. Jane goes to Asgard

In the beginning of the new trailer it is shown that Thor keeps his promise and takes Jane Foster back to the realm of Asgard.

But the question remains : "Will she be safe?" Little tidbits have been shown in the trailer have shown that Asgard will be attacked by Malekith and his
forces of Dark Elves, but what does that mean for the fate of Jane Foster. Will she meet her end?

2. Who is Malekith?

In an interview with Total Film back in February, actor Christopher Eccleston briefly touched on his
role as Malekith in Thor: The Dark World. In the interview, Malekith is described as a 'bad guy with no redeeming qualities'.

According to the comics, Malekith is the ruler of the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim and according to Odin from the trailer is the
"universe's oldest foe".

3. Asgard gets a Complete Makeover

Asgard has gotten the "Alan Taylor Makeover". In this latest installment, completely different from its predecessor back in 2011, Marvel and director Alan Taylor go back to the Norse roots of Thor and brings it to the big screen.

Actress Jaime Alexander briefly tells us what to expect from this upcoming sequel. We get to explore different realms a lot more and you see a lot more Asgard; and you get to know the people of Asgard.

4. Does Loki have a Plan?

There are two quick shots in the trailer that shows Thor being attacked by a small group of Dark Elves outside of Loki's glass prison cell

which has led me to speculate that Loki might be in league with the Dark Elf leader Malekith,
or does Malekith want Loki for a bigger purpose.

Tom Hiddleston himself had this to say "Malekith has his own ambition. Whether or not Loki can
coincide with or contradict, subvert or enhance that ambition remains to be seen.”

5. Lady Sif and Thor's Relationship

Towards the end of the first Thor film, it was established that Lady Sif had feelings for the God
of Thunder, but according the Jaime Alexander, in this second installment we will see a little bit more of Sif's and Thor's blossoming relationship.

There is more [character development] with Sif. We sort of explore the Thor-Sif relationship a little bit;
kind of [in a romantic way]. It's more like getting a feel of who these people are, how the way they are with each other.

Jaime went onto comment that about how they are no questions about her character Sif and Natalie Portman's character Jane Foster.
“Nobody asked me do I have any scenes with Jane Foster,” she said before laughing. “There may be a few!”

Plot so far from the trailer:

Thor has been fighting on Asgard for a year and there has just been an attack of a mysterious force on Asgard. Soon Odin reveals that Malektih, the leader of a force that lived before time has returned and is now targeting Jane Foster. Thor knows the only person that could get him to earth would be Loki but doesn't trust him so goes to Heimdale and learns that a secondary Bifrost powered by the power of of Musepelheim is secretly on the sea of Asgard and Thor uses it to get to London where Jane Foster is conducting an experiment with newly redeemed scientist Donald Blake and where the dark elves have just arrived. He fights and has his first battle with Malekith. Losing he takes Jane to Asgard and Malekith attacks again this time bringing Kurse. He breaks into the palace, kills Thor's mom and possesses Jane. Thor must then journey to Swartleheim and bring Loki and Jane for the final battle.

Loki may have a plan but I think Malekith wants to deliver him to Thanks. Would be cool to see a bounty of sorts on him.
