There's a huge amount of excitement surrounding Thor: Love and Thunder, and while the movie was among those delayed by Marvel Studios thanks to COVID-19, pre-production is currently taking place in earnest in Australia. Cameras will start rolling in January, and cast members like Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman are already there getting ready for the project.

During last night's episode of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, the host caught up with Portman and asked for an update on plans for Thor's latest adventure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Confirming that she is indeed playing the "Mighty Thor," Portman said she's "just prepping" at the moment and praised Taika Waititi's vision for the God of Thunder. While she wouldn't reveal any specifics, the actress did say that the movie is "gonna be really silly, and funny, and great." That definitely sounds in line with what we've come to expect from the filmmaker!

Asked about the work that goes into training to become an MCU superhero, Portman added: "I'm trying...I'm super tired after working out. And during. And dreading before!"

Hopefully they write her better, she was probably the least interesting character of the first two Thor films.

We could all use some silly and funny in our lives currently. I have absolutely no problem with that, especially when a master like Waititi at the helm.
Just give me more badass scenes with Thor like in Ragnarok and everything's gravy.

When you know that Taika Waititi is directing...

I've seen the majority of Taika's work and he has his own, unique brand of humour which I'm looking forward to.

Just like Thor and Hulk, I imagine Taika is gonna make Jane an interesting and funny character too. I also look forward too that.

@giannis - I legit thought that we were getting this in Thor 2... Warriors 3 being apart of most of the story as well... It still burns to this day

patgreyc - 10/21/2020, 3:22 AM
@WakandanQueen - I was cool with Ragnarok, definitely better then Dark World. As long as it’s not a Bugs Bunny cartoon I’m down with it.

dragon316 - 10/21/2020, 4:40 AM
@patgreyc - I prefer dark world over ragnaorck third movie was almost all comedy Thor is not funny people complain movies don’t match well to books compare Thor books to movies you will see no comedy in it almost ever Thor will never done and say anything funny in his books
patgreyc
patgreyc - 10/21/2020, 6:04 AM
@dragon316 - True, and I’m a huge fan of Thor from the comics. But the quasi-Shakespearean speak and the stone cold serious bravado does not always translate to other mediums, especially if you don’t know how to write it. I would love a completely serious take, but I don’t know if there is anyone out there that could write/direct it well.

@patgreyc - Exactly this. And yes, they gave Ragnarok a lot of humor. But it was necessary to revitalize the character. And for me, it still never overshadowed the action and adventure. And man did this movie have some of the best visuals!
