Well, Vin Diesel is in serious trouble with Marvel Studios!
Before we get to that, though, it's worth pointing out that
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was originally set to be released before
Thor: Love and Thunder. However, James Gunn's firing (and his decision to take the helm of
The Suicide Squad for Warner Bros.) changed things, and it's now clear that the God of Thunder's status as an Asgardian of the Galaxy will be addressed in 2021!
Doing the rounds to promote
Bloodshot, Diesel (who voices Groot) confirmed that the team will be included in Thor's next movie.
"I am waiting and excited for my friend James Gunn to knock this next one out of the park," he said when asked about plans for
Vol. 3.
"He took The Suicide Squad so he's about to embark on it."
"Thor will also, the director talked to me about Thor will incorporate some of the Guardians of the Galaxy," he added, noting that this is the first time the news has actually been revealed.
"That'll be very interesting, nobody knows, maybe I shouldn't have said anything."
Love and Thunder is shaping up to be a very busy movie, so chances are Thor will part ways with the team fairly early on to leave room for characters like The Mighty Thor and Valkyrie to shine.
It is, of course, possible that the team will stick around to help Thor, and we still don't know whether there are plans for the God of Thunder to appear in Gunn's next movie. Either way, it makes sense for Taika Waititi to deal with
Avengers: Endgame's ending, and it will be particularly interesting seeing how this sets the stage for the team's return in
Vol. 3.
