As Sif, Alexander has made a hell of an impression in both Thor and Thor: The Dark World, as well as a pair of episodes of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The big question, of course, is whether or not she will be appearing in 2017's Thor: Ragnarok. It seems that the actress, currently starring in NBC's Blindspot, is as in the dark as the fans are.
"I am not 100% sure at this moment," she admits. "I know that they're changing things with the script and that sort of thing, so I am literally in limbo. I know probably less than you do about it. I would love to do it, but wheether or not it's going to work on my short hiatus from Blindspot I'm not sure. There could be a lot of factors when it comes to that decision."
As to the appeal of the Sif character, she notes, "I love her loyalty and her strength, and just her wanting to protect everyone around her. There are some similarities between her and Jane from Blindspot. I'm a huge comic book fan, and who doesn't dream of being a superhero when they're a kid? The fact that I got to put on a costume and play this amazing superhero was just a dream come true. It was like the little kid inside me was very, very excited.
"If I get to play her again," she adds, "it's absolutely gravy. That's why when Marvel asked me if I would cross the Thor films into Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., I said yes. I love Clark Gregg; he is a fantastic guy and that whole cast is wonderful. They're such a great, tight family over there and they're more than welcoming. I also got to explore more of who Sif really is, and play around with humor a little bit with her, which I didn't really get a chance to do in the films."
At the moment, of course, fans are enjoying Jaimie's portrayal of Jane on Blindspot , the action thriller that began with the naked and tattooed woman popping out of a bag in Times Square and quickly coming to the attention of the FBI. Together they attempt to uncover the clues of those tattoos and their connection to a criminal conspiracy.
"When I was looking to take a TV show," says Alexander, "I waited a few years, because I couldn't find anything that was worth it to me. Then Blindspot came around and I said, "This is it." There weren't as many roles like this for women out there. I got very lucky, and I know that this was a very coveted role for a lot of people. I'm thankful that I was their first choice and that it worked out. I really wanted to make sure that i did the part justice so that, again, it would hopefully create opportunity for other actresses."
