BOX OFFICE: THOR: RAGNAROK Expected To Cross $400 Million Worldwide As Soon As Sunday

Thor: Ragnarok is the best reviewed Marvel Studios movie of all-time so it probably won't surprise you to learn that box office projections now point to it being a mega hit when it finally hits the US.

Thor: Ragnarok launched to $109 million in 36 markets last weekend and the threequel now looks set to add the likes of the US, Canada, China, Japan, and Mexico to that list this coming weekend. As a result, box office analysts currently believe that the movie will have passed the $400 million mark by Sunday. That's incredible, especially as the first instalment only made a total of $449 million!
According to Deadline, the Taika Waititi helmed release will have passed $150 million overseas by today and China alone is expected to add $50 million to that. Throw in the estimated opening weekend domestically of $100 million - $120 million and things are clearly looking good for the movie.

Thor: Ragnarok is currently playing strongly to all demos and the threequel appears to be exceeding previous instalments of the franchise in every way. Of course, it doesn't have long until Justice League is released on November 17th so Marvel has to be hoping that people flock to see it during the first couple of weekends. Will you be checking out Thor: Ragnarok when it's released later this week?

I really hope Feige gives Waititi Thor 4. It's not the perfect Simonson/Buscema adaptation or anything, but it finally gave Hemsworth the proper sandbox to play in. It'd be a shame for the first movie to finally get the formula working to also be the last.

@uncannyspidey -
That's the whole point that's oversea. Domestic market will be even higher. Plus that is building the Hype for a domestic box office blow out of 150 and higher

@AndrewHolland - I really wish they'd somehow kept the Hulk a secret. At least kept it out of trailers. Would have been such a great reveal if you had no idea it was coming.

@AndrewHolland - YES lot of Trolls out this morning.

My definition of a Troll is people who purposely spoil movies for others.

All the other stuff is good old Flame Wars which I love and makes me come back everyday to Comic Book Movies website. All in fun and to laugh. Never serious for me.

@AndrewHolland - That is not possible when there are editors here spoiling the film with the title of the articles. Even if you point it out, nothing happens.

@SmilingTRex - Don't worry man if you're worried about spoilers in the titles of articles I think you're fine.
Really cool movie

@Spock0Clock - As crazy as that would be, it sounds like his role is too big for that. Also that would be damaging marketing wise.

@Deonox - True. But it's just such a great moment that I can only imagine what it would be like to be surprised by it.

@Spock0Clock - If i wasn't so gung-ho on the MCU i'd quit this site and never watch a trailer. I had a friend skip the marketing for Age of Ultron. He had no idea quick silver was in this, and when Vision came alive he couldn't believe it
