FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS Director Taika Waititi In Talks To Direct THOR: RAGNAROK

With Alan Taylor making his lack of interest in returning to the franchise clear earlier this year and Kenneth Branagh hard at work on Artemis Fowl among other things, who will take the helm of Thor: Ragnarok has been a mystery. Well, thanks to The Wrap, we now know that Flight of the Conchords and What We Do in the Shadows director Taika Waititi will take the helm of the God of Thunder's third adventure. He apparently beat Ruben Fleischer (Gangster Squad) to the coveted gig, and is another very surprising and unusual choice by Marvel Studios just as James Gunn was for Guardians of the Galaxy and the Russo Brothers were for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Waititi is still in negotiations, but it sounds like a done deal at this point, so we'll likely hear something official from Marvel Studios soon. The filmmaker also wrote upcoming Disney animated movie Moana starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, but whether or not he'll have any input on Thor: Ragnarok's script remains to be seen. How do you feel about him taking the helm of this movie? Let us know below...

The buzz on Moana is very good. Interesting choice. It will interesting to see how much of a stamp he can put on it.

I like this guy ad an actor and director. "BOY" was a great movie by him. Don't know if he can do a serious movie but whatever, all the best marvel movies came from directors who only had comedy movies under there belt.

I just hope he gives it a huge scale feel like LOTR.

My favorite scene in Green Lantern is when Hal revealed himself to his character.

So both Marvel and DC are now doing half hour single camera sitcom comedies about normal people living with the effects of superhero battles in comedic ways.

I'm surprised Gusto watches Flight of the Conchords. You'd think one of their songs would have gotten through to him.
