Last night, Marvel Studios aired a brand new TV spot for Thor: Ragnarok featuring plenty of exciting footage from the highly anticipated threequel. Well, eagle eyed fans have noticed that some key changes have been made as special effects work continues and that includes the addition of a circular disc on the God of Thunder's neck. What's the significance of that? The Planet Hulk comic explains all.
In those, combatants entering the arena were fitted with "Obedience Discs" which would ensure they'd fight. Should they refuse, they'd be hit with a strong electrical shock and the powers of those wearing them would be dampened. It's pretty easy to figure out how that could be incorporated in the film!
After all, why else would Thor enter the arena? Yes, he's without Mjolnir but the hero could easily refuse to abide by The Grandmaster's orders. Whether or not the Jade Giant is also wearing one remains to be seen but recent set visit reports revealed that Bruce Banner has been in his Hulk form for two years but is depressed with his lot. That's why Sakaar's ruler frequently throws him parades!
