New THOR: RAGNAROK Concept Art Highlights The Fiery Minions — And Dragon — Of Surtur

Surtur played a small, but pivotal role in Thor: Ragnarok, especially when the God of Thunder took on his army in the film's opening. Check out some new concept art for his blazing minions after the jump.

While we didn't get to see a whole lot of Surtur in Thor: Ragnarok, the demon of Muspelheim fulfilled his purpose in bringing about the destruction of Asgard. Despite his lack of screentime, the film still opened with a thrilling battle between Thor and Surtur's minions (complete with a massive dragon).

Artist Ian Joyner (who also worked on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2) revealed some concept art on his Instagram with a few detailed looks at both Surtur's underlings and the molten dragon (both before and after its encounter with Thor). Check them out below and let us know what you think!

This movie was just so good. I laughed the entire time and I felt it did hit one or two serious notes.

@Supercat6376 - You really think we should be laughing the entire time during a comic book movie when the best version of the concept isnt comedic at all?

you really think its a positive thing that marvel characters are being turned into jar jar binks?

This is Thor at his best

This was a wasted film, and it was NOT good, I couldnt even finish it the second time I watched it. It was a [frick]ing joke.

Grow up man, Thor and all the comedic bs is ruining film in general.

@Re1Agent - ok, I agree that Thor shouldn't be comedic, but it was an entertaining movie, and telling people to grow up if they like it is, ironically, pretty damn juvenile. You can dislike the movie.

but don't be a [foo foo].

@Re1Agent - do you see the humor of telling some one to grow up while arguing about comic book interpretations.

I do not come here to grow up.

Totally loved the movie, but, was Thor trying not to hurt the dragon? I mean, he was like "i don't know what else to do", he had just defeated Surtur and then he was struggling with the dragon, he could beat it easily, i don't think that beast was more powerful than Surtur itself.

I absolutely love the opening battle sequence. It truly shows just how much of a one-man force of nature Thor really is. Also it reminded me of this

One thing totally ruined the movie for me, seeing the god of thunder taken down by a tazer..It was hilarious in a very bad way.
