THOR: RAGNAROK Director Taika Waititi Confirms That We Will Visit The Planet Sakaar In The Movie

Probably not a huge surprise considering we already knew Thor: Ragnarok would borrow from the "Planet Hulk" comic arc, but it's now been officially confirmed that Sakaar will feature in the threequel...

We've known for some time now that Marvel's Thor: Ragnarok would utilize elements of the Planet Hulk storyline, and most of us figured that would mean a trip to Sakaar where we'd find the Green Goliath engaged in gladiatorial combat.

Though this was purely an assumption, director Taika Waititi has now confirmed that we will indeed see The God of Thunder (Chris Hemsworth) reconnect with Bruce Banner/Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) on that very planet during a new interview with Total Film.

You can check out the scanned image for yourselves (via MCU Exchange) below. It remains to be seen how much of the Planet Hulk arc carries over to the film of course, but fans will be hoping for appearances from the likes of The Red King, and the future Mrs. Hulk, Caeira the Oldstrong.

I feel odd about this movie. I'm not unenthusiastic about it, exactly, because I think Waititi has the potential to make a really great movie, and Hemsworth and Thor both deserve a good movie in the franchise with a real voice of its own. But... I never really cared for Planet Hulk as a premise and when Spider-Man finally coming home to the MCU for real and the Defenders finally teaming up together and Guardians getting a chance to go bigger, weirder, and more adorable, Ragnarok just feels like it's slipping through the cracks.

Even Inhumans has got me more engaged, and I don't even really like the Inhumans.

@sKeemAn - It may make heavy use of post-credit tags in Homecoming and Vol.2 (and already has in Strange). Maybe one of them shows the Hulk getting abducted and thrown into the arena just to let that steep for a few months in people's minds.

But yeah, this one has a lot of moving parts that don't seem to go together in the slightest. Maybe Thor/Loki/Strange look for Odin in Act 1, Hela scatters them across the universe for Act 2 where Thor finds Banner on Sakaar. Then Act 3 is a Spartacus-style slave revolt, with Thor leading his newfound misfit army to take back Asgard from Hela?

That seems a little too neat, and also really logistically forced.

And not really a whole lot of "Ragnarok" about it.

@Spock0Clock - spot on. it makes me very nervous for Thor. However i have much faith in Watiti, his movies are very well made.

I don't know that they really even need to go into how Hulk got to Sakaar. last time we saw him he was drifting into the unknown on the quinjet.... that's enough for me!

@RorMachine - they should at least have a scene showing how or why.

@RorMachine - It's almost like you don't take these films seriously because they're just movies. You should be ashamed.
